I knew they were going to do something with him but not to that extent... I was well pleased and he deserves the recognition for starting it all! It get's better though... www.bbc.co.uk/englandYup, it was the main featured story for ENGLAND!! Go Sven!!

It even managed to dwarf a story about the British Shin kicking champion. Now that's good going!

I'm very protective of my shins due to the running and all so if there was I'd pick a champion to kick in my stead.

I hope Nelson Shin doesn't cancel his personal appearance at AA with all this talk of shin kicking!

Great article. The guy who wrote the article has his own music show on BBC Birmingham and is a huge Transformers fan.
I met him at Memo last year and we've kept in touch ever since. I told him about AA-08 a while back and said he should come along, then he called me Monday night asking for contact details for the organisers of AA as he thought he could get some coverage on BBC's site so I gave him Sven's number and the rest is history.
I had an email from him yesterday and he said it's caused a bit of a stir his end and reckons there's a chance that Radio will want to be there as well. The local BBC radio did a piece on Memorbillia last summer so AA would fall into the catagory of stories they like to cover.
Cheers Jon

With coverage like that I bet AA this year will be the biggest yet and is likely to get bigger in subsequent years. I doubt it will ever be as big as Botcon but it looks set to make the second-place seat it very own.

Agreed! I vividly remember the very first Auto Assembly in Oct 2000. It was only the 2nd convention I'd been to (DeceptiCon was the first). There was about 30-40 people there. Maz & Sven were the only 2 selling TF's and it was a chance for me to watch a load of TF episodes I'd never seen before.
Oh how it's grown since then!!

I vividly remember my first Auto Assembly in 200 as well!
I bid an insane amount of money for TFUK 130 complete with its free gift Data Scan in the charity auction!

I vividly remember my first Auto Assembly in 200 as well! 200 eh? You are looking remarkably well preserved for your age! And isn't having a convention several centuries before the toyline is imagined just a little bit dangerous to causality?! Andy

Back then, this was all fields and Transformers were made of die-cast.
And thank you for the compliment, I am well preserved for my age. It's the regular soaking in alcohol that does it.
