I don't think we'll get the aftermath until tomorrow!

The day was excellant for me but it was the nightmare getting there and coming back that did it for me. I got off the bus in the morning, got lost, took another bus to the convention and the day started. After the convention had finished I got even more lost trying to find my way back (I was supposed to reach Digbeth coach station but wound up outside Edgbaston Cricket Ground instead at one point) and missed my bus by a full hour! Worse still there were no other buses leaving until the following morning to my part of the Midlands so I had to take a taxi back home which cost me a stonking £100 (yes, that's right one-zero-zero quid). I think I'll plan my transport better next year.

Andy, Nick and myself have just returned back to stately Burns Towers. Great to see everyone.
A small pause now before Turn and Burn begin boozing again to round the weekend off!

Ran out of time legged it to the platform only to realise I'd gone to the wrong departing at 8.03pm train, one more mad run and I just got to it on time. If not for the cover to 302 I would have spent just £90 on the entire day. Half of that was travel. Andy

I'm thinking that next year I'll take a taxi to the convention from the coach station and one back there after the convention. That way I won't get lost, won't have sore feet when I get to the convention and won't turn up late. It was my late arrival (I turned up at around 11.30) that lost me any chance of getting any Transform-a-snacks.

Just finished a hearty and much-needed dinner after my journey home. After leaving Andy and Ralph in Partick I travelled back to Croftfoot by bus, dropped off my bags and had to go straight out again as I hadn't been to Mass. Got back, piping hot steak pie was had, dishes were washed, unexpectedly dodgy Universe figure was fixed with ease and here I am. All going well I should be able to put up my haul list before I conk out over the keybsd\gvcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc

All going well I should be able to put up my haul list before I conk out over the keybsd\gvcccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccccc Ah yes, the post-convention snooze. I remember after my second Transforce I actually fell asleep at my desk at work. After the second time my head thumped onto my desk I realised the adviseability of taking off the day after travelling back from a convention..... Karl

Just got back a short while ago after a taxi ride, flight, bus run and finally a lift home from my uncle. Quite tired and all, but I think I can speak for Marc, James and Gareth that we all had a jolly good time. Garreth (my nephew) was a bit overwhelmed with the travelling and meeting so many new folks, but did manage to restrain himself much better than I did when I first saw a hall full of Transformers for sale! A good nights sleep and I'll post my photo's online tomorrow.
Hope everyone got home safely without incident.

Red Mill decided to let us down at the last minute and they didn't bother sending them and didn't say anything to us about why they didn't deliver them. Let's put it this way, this is the ONLY year that we haven't had them and that next year, we're not going to be asking them to donate them, we're going to budget for them instead so we can keep the AA tradition going...

TMUK even made it onto the BBC, look very carefully at this picture from the BBC Birmingham website: |<o>|

As is traditional after a weekend away for a con, I am very very tired. Andy Turbull and I decided to do in another bottle of vodka upon our return last night until around 1am-ish while plotting various TMUK related thingies. Around 3pm this afternoon my brain finally caved in and I am now completely cabbaged. Luckily, Nick was around to escort Andy back to the bus station so he can get home as my ability to speak has dropped to "ugh". Last I saw, Andy too was struggling with the power of speech.

The latter part of our journey back into town was passed in silence, only punctuated by occasional grunting.

Just back in to Dunfermline now, narrowly avoiding an encounter with my sisters as well.

I left the pub/hotel about 8.00ish I think and began the long journey home listening to the Bangles in my car. Stopped a couple of times at service stations for much needed cups of tea (and to look at my new toy additions). Got home about 11.30. Luckily, I had the next day off work so had a lie in to recover the day. Amy (my wife) could tell I was still in a TF mood the next evening as she actually suggested that we watch the film on our new TV. Next year I will definitely save some money and stay over so I can have a proper drink with everyone (apologies to Paul W & co. that I didn't make it to the Wetherspoons after - although I probably wouldn't have found it anyway). Anyway, I had a great day - full marks to Sven, Simon & co. Very surreal meeting the voice of Bumblebee after all these years and so nice to see everyone again. Looking forward to next year! (I want to post some photos but can't seem to get it right - any tips anyone?)

I don't appear to be in the photo that Andrew B posted. I must have been at the bar or something.
Matt, the way I post photos is to save them to Photobucket.com then, when it is saved the site will give you about four different links to that photo. Click on the 'Direct Link' option (I think thats what its called) to paste it to your clipboard then all you have to do is put that link in between a couple of image tags in your post.

TFW2005 posted a direct link to the feature on BBC Birmingham: www.bbc.co.uk/birmingham/content/articles/2008/06/04/auto_assembly_feature.shtmlResult! It even moved me to write in: "To: Birmingham@bbc.co.uk Hello there! I was at the Auto Assembly convention last weekend and it's been great to see the organisers pull off such a successful show. Hopefully next year's will be even bigger, and I would be obliged if you would give them a hand by making a wee amendment to your article. Specifically the url at the bottom, which leads to Auto Assembly component manufacturers while the convention site is www.autoassembly.org.uk/Thanks very much, Nicholas Davidson" Ah, journalism. -Nick

It seems I went largely unphotographed at AA. The only photos I appear in are the ones that Graham took.

See all those photos of dealer tables? Now imagine all of that concentrated into one room. That's what the inside of Nick's bedroom looks like, TF-wise.

I managed to avoid most of the cameras and cunningly sent the TV cameras in Sven's direction when they wanted to interview someone... Just that sod from the BBC that got me for the website! Going to kill him when I get my hands on him next year....
