Not started a thread before so this will probably go down like a lead balloon but nevertheless:
If you were asked to personally select a single episode of each 'generation' of the TF series for a compilation DVD, what episodes would you chose? These should be your personal stand alone fave's and not just ones that would make it easier for a non TF fan to watch (I.e. all origin stories).
Select an episode from each of the following:
G1 (s1/2)
G1 (s3)
Headmasters
Masterforce
Victory
Beast Wars (S12&3)
Beast Machines
BW2/BW Neo
RID
Armada
Energon
Cybertron
Animated
I've excluded Zone for obvious reasons and combined S1&2 of G1 as the set up is pretty much the same unlike G1S3.
Still not sure whether to keep BW2 & Neo as one?
Anyway - it'd be interesting to get everyones opinions.

G1 (S3) Dark Awakening just narrowly edges out The Burden hardest to Bear.

Headmasters - not sure - possibly the one with the lady not
wearing much who rides a big eagle.

Beast Machines - The Weak Component
BW2/BW Neo -
RID - SkidZ Choice
Armada - The one where Starscream dies
Energon - not sure yet - didn't like many of these
Cybertron - The one where Vector Prime dies defiantly
Animated - still not decided.

G1 (S1/2) - The Secret of Omega Supreme
G1 (S3) - Dark Awakening
Headmasters - not sure. I didn't like the series much
Masterforce - the final episode (can't remember the title of it)
Victory - the episode where God Ginrai fights for the last time with Dezarus
Beast Wars (S1, 2 & 3) - The final episode of Season 3
Beast Machines - not seen it ... yet
RID - only seen a few episodes of it so can't really comment
Armada, Energon & Cybertron - couldn't stand the show
Animated - only seen one episode of it so far

Here are my (limited) choices;
G1 (s1/2) - Not sure of the title, but the one where Ironhide gets some character development, the one where everyone gets frozen by one of Wheeljack's inventions.
G1 (s3) - Again, not sure of the title, but the one where First Aid refuses to fight.
Headmasters
Masterforce
Victory
I always fall asleep whenever I try to watch these, I think the Japanese hypnotises me. I can't really tell one episode from the next.
Beast Wars (S12&3) - Victory - I love this episode. Excellent on all fronts, particularly the direction.
Beast Machines - The Weak Component - I see BM more as a 26 part story rather than individual episodes but Rattrap's despair at his new form is my personal highlight.
BW2/BW Neo - See above re: falling asleep.
RID - Towline goes haywire - Dunno, this one just tickles me.
Armada
Energon
Cybertron
I tried to watch these, but they're just awful. Bad animation, non existent characters. I think I'm too old as well, as all the flashing lights and repetitive scenes give me a headache.
Animated - Not seen enough to judge.

G1 (s1/2) - The Ultimate Doom (Yes I know it's technically 3 episodes but it was the first episode I saw as a child and remains a firm favourite).

Headmasters - The Final Showdown on Earth Part 1
Masterforce - The True Form of Devil-Z
Victory - Merge! Liokaiser!
Beast Wars (S12&3) - The one wher Dinobot dies.
Beast Machines - I would not inflict this on anyone.
BW2/BW Neo - Not seen any.
RID - The Mystery of Brave Maximus

Energon - n/a
Cybertron - n/a

I would stick on 'More Than Meets the Eye' parts 1-3 from Sunbow as it's fun if watched in the right mood, 'Battle Protocol' and 'Sky Byte Saves the Day' from RID and 'Victory' from Beast Wars. I would leave off Beast Machines as the theme of the set would be enjoyable nonsense: that show is a bit more dramatic. Star Dubs would need their own set, of course. And Armada/Energon/Cybertron are bobbins.
There would be free cakes with every purchase. Why? Why not.

G1 (s1/2) - More than Meets the Eye 1 -3 (yes, I'm cheating. What?) If I'm absolutely pushed I'd be inclined to say Part 3 is the most enjoyable of the the three.
G1 (s3) - If I have to chose one it would be "Dark Awakening", the only episode I have seen where I think the writing is really up to snuff.
Headmasters - No episodes of Headmasters in their original language are selected. If forced to include one I randomly select an episode but ensure it is only available in Star-Dubbed form.
Masterforce - "Rise up Pretenders" - it is an episode that works strongly out of context. My favourite episodes (the last three) are only as strong as they are because of the context of the rest of the series. For a compilation DVD this one would be my pick because it has a lot of the tonal and stylistic elements of the series that I like.
Victory - "A Deadly Battle". Star Saber and Ginrai against Deszara's. Victory is a show that at its heart adores showdowns, and this is a good example of them.
Beast Wars (S12&3) - Harder than I thought it would be. But only because there are a large number of episodes I am really fond of. I'm going to come back to this one.
Beast Machines - Gets excluded, on the grounds that detaching one section of a 26 part story counts as vandalism. "Beast Machines" isn't really structured to show its best when you consider the episodes completely out of context. (Gun to my head and I'd pick "The Weak Component", but only because it is the one where you might be able to actually disentangle it).
BW2/BW Neo - Not seen enough Neo to comment. For BW2 it would have to be the episode (and I forget the title) where the Destrons plan to get the Insectrons drunk and trick them into fighting the Cybertrons. The episode is ludicrous and reveling in it.
RID - "Skybyte saves the day" (and Battle Protocol if I'm allowed to pick two). The former is light and funny, and also spotlights my favourite character from the whole RiD series.
Armada - Doesn't even have any episodes I'd consider "least bad" let alone favourite.
Energon - see above
Cybertron - see..you get the picture.
Animated - Not seen enough to make a selection.
