I am happy to hear of this. I started the thread last time a new TMNT movie was on the way but I am thinking this new prospect could work better, it just needs a large flavour of what made 300, and Sin City such great dark comic adaptions.
When I mention TMNT I go by the original mature reading comic series it began with in 1983. For the record I despise the bastardisation that is the old cartoon that most people probably know TMNT by because it made what was originally gritty, dark and cool into a silly comedy of pizza eating and goofy mutants.
I know this probably won't be the faithful comic-book adaption myself and the majority of the 80's concious fanbase are praying for, but I hope it's taken more seriously this time with NO pizzas, and NO cowabungas.
Either way... Here's the newspeice.

Interesting new direction for sequel...
In an interview with MTV, TMNT co-creator and owner Peter Laird says that the next TMNT film will be live-action AND CG-animated.
"There is no intention of doing another live-action film like the first three, with actors and stuntmen in actual Turtle suits, contrary to what was said by Kevin [Eastman, fellow TMNT co-creator]. We have pretty much decided that the next TMNT movie should be what we've been calling a 'hybrid' — that is to say, live-action humans and sets combined with very realistic CGI Turtles (and possibly some other CGI characters)."
Laird added that he was pretty happy with TMNT and that he would like Chris Evans and Sarah Michelle Gellar -- who voiced Casey and April, respectively -- to "reprise those roles, but this time 'in the flesh.'"
Laird also said that Steve Barron, director of the first live-action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie, might direct the next film.
"We've spoken to him a few times, and I would be very pleased if he ended up directing the next TMNT movie. That being said, I am pretty sure that right now no offer has been made or accepted. Again, I have to stress that we are still in the very beginning stages of this process."
