Yeah, academia is by no means as cheap as some people think it is. Between one thing and another it can certainly put a battering on the wallet.
There's something to be said for talking about what is going on inside the psyche sometimes. Not something I was terribly good at in times past, but I have learned that sometimes it is worth being open about things with people (within reason obviously). I find it helps me be open with myself about things as well.
I am sure that you will work through this, and will almost certainly come out with a better understanding of parts of yourself that you weren't entirely familiar with before. In the long run I'm sure it is a process that you will benefit from. It speaks well of you that you are prepared to do this - there are a lot of people who would likely not be willing to examine themselves so closely.
And as Andy says, don't worry about the travel fares and whatnot. We did it because we wanted to (lets face it, we don't tend to feel that bound by "shoulds" ) and it was good to have you along. Think no more of it.

But it wasn't fun when I had a complete spontaneous breakdown in the middle of an exercise in Uni this morning. I'm talking primal level bodily responses here. And it would be nice not to be afraid of going to sleep. -Ralph

Blimey Doc', hang in there mate. I don't have any words of advice like Karl or Andy, I'm not that articulate, but you're a smart guy, you'll get it sorted.
Dear Lord, getting up at stupid-O-clock this AM for a 0600 start, after a week of leave, was not good at all. Only thing keeping me going is the thought of a box of goodies from D.S! Yipppeeee!!!!!! And the continuation of my Predacon Civil-War. Magmatron needs more troops. Guiledart should be arriving soon. But wait, what's this? Back from the dead, a titanic force to re-unify the Predacons?! Could it be?! The return of MEGATRON!
And relax.

Ralph, as always if there's anything I can do to help you out let me know. I certainly won't think of it myself, that's for sure.
While my dad (who is a taxi driver) was helping an old lady out of the car with her shopping this morning, her young scamp in the front stole his mobile phone. It was a cheap model but it had dozens of numbers in it for contacts that are quite useful to a taxi driver as well as all the numbers of his mates and family. That was a kick in the balls.
I went to the cathedral this afternoon for the sacrament of reconciliation (also known as confession). A woman several places ahead of me was in there for quite some time for reasons that are between her, Father Therroux and The Big Man. Unfortunately it meant he had to leave to get ready for Mass while there was one person still waiting to go in. Me.
D'oh.

Or third/fourth/twelfth/whatever it - whatever you don't have, you have friends here who care about you, Ralph. Nick - you're a better man than I am. I haven't been to confession since I was in middle school. Martin

Hi sports fans! Up at a more reasonable hour this AM for work. Thank God! Received a box of goodies from Dark Stranger yest. Full of Transformer goodness! Now desperate for a Robo Masters Starscream! And my Predacon armies grow! Much to Mrs Shockprowl's distress. Also nice to give a good home to some of the stuff I don't want. Great when it works out like that.
On Muppets, anyone mentioned PIGS IN SPACE yet? I love Pigs in Space! I'm going to produce a sequel: PIGLET IN SPACE!!! First toddler shot into space! No not really! Need her down her so I can squeeze her.
A minor crisis in the Shockprowl household last night. Get back home after a crazy shift yest, to discover my good Woman emergency de-frosting the freezer! Someone (me I think) hadn't close the door correctly, and it'd all iced over! Eek! Got it sorted though.

I'm waiting for season 2 to be reduced in price, if I get it at all. Not because it has any flaws, but simply because season 1 and the three Region 1 'Very Best Of' releases (which include hour-long clip compilations and whole episodes such as the Mark Hammill, Roger Moore and Sylvester Stallone ones) are sufficient in quantity to satisfy my regular Muppet cravings. My broadband apparently goes live on 4 April, at which point I will explore the Muppet offerings on YouTube at greater leisure. Martin

Just curious, Ralph - is there any Muppet sketch you've looked for on YouTube and not been able to find? (I found the three I looked for instantly, and multiple copies in some cases.)
That girl Muppet in the crocodile song is scary in all the appearances I've seen. There's something not right about her... and I'm not sure whether it's the fact she's riding a crocodile, or the fact she has no nose...

Martin Not as yet. There seems to be tons of it up there including the Vincent Price song cut from the DVD release that can be found earlier in this thread. -Ralph
