Let's hope no metal robots inexplicably on fire spouting gibberish pop up this week.

Toys'r'us is bedlam. My department was short a body on Sunday and the place was riotously busy. It was still a state when we got in this morning and with folk shopping (very) early for Christmas and lots of new promotions on we're not getting much opportunity to get the place fixed up. I'm shattered. Glad I'm off Wednesday and Thursday.

I've had one of those beginnings to my week. Yesterday I was dissassembling the case of the (non-functional) extractor fan in the bathroom to try to find out how it is attached to the ceiling. I unscrewed the case, took the bottom off and - lo and behold - the fan began to turn again. I stared at it for a moment, and worked out that it must have been striking on the case all along. So I was examining the case and its fit to try and work out how to resolve the problem. I turned away for a moment to drink a swig of tea. As I turned back fan, and motor dropped straight out of the case by three inches, being brought to a stop only by running out of slack in the wiring.
Of course, there was no way to fix them back into place. That would have been too easy. And also, attempting to do so disloged large drifts of twenty-five years of accumulated dust onto the Karl below. End result: The motor and fan shoved back into the case, which is secured by parcel tape just to keep everything neat and in place. A dust covered, temporarily grey-haired, trousered and T-shirted, Karl who currently can't really use the light in his bathroom as it is wired to the same circuit as the extractor fan.
So I spent a fair chunk of the public holiday today purchasing a replacement extractor fan, and attempting to arrange for an electrician to come and connect my new oven and new bathroom fan. Part one of that went well enough, part two....not so well.....

Insomnia strikes again.
In other news, I continue to be utterly addicted to Allison's sunflower and pumpkin seeds bread. It is so tasty, especially when toasted. I had six slices yesterday. I can hear its siren-like call from the cupboard even now. 'Eat me....'. 'Eat me....'.

Off very shortly to see Paradise Lost in London. Been a fan since 1996, and every single time they've played, something silly has prevented me from seeing them.
This is the closest I've ever came to catching them live, hope nothing falls out of the bloody sky to stop me.
Like the plane or anything.
