Paramount also have the UK rights (at least, I assume they do, as that's who did the video I have to hand), so let's hope that's a good sign.

I watched a few epiodes of Energon but couldn't stand it. I have no problem with the animation, in fact I think its better than the G1 cartoon, but the stories just bored me to tears. Furthermore, I partly watch Transformers cartoons for the transforming sequences and Energon had very little from what I saw (I'm sure somebody here will correct me on that). In my opinion it felt more like a 'giant robot battles another giant robot in outer space' type cartoon than a TF one.

Energon is a sin against the Baby Jesus.

It's pretty poor and not worth buying on DVD. Not even for a completist urge. RESIST PEOPLE, RESIST!!!!

ill probably get it just cause i am a completist sleeper Awaken Geoff and be free from the completist urge. I only saw a few episodes of Energon, enough to know that I didn't think it was that great. I'm fairly certain I will be skipping this set. Karl

It happens to us all. We all have blind spots where we end up buying stuff regardless of the fact that we know that we will regret it. (That said, I wasn't even really aware of other releases of the live-action movie other than the single disc release). I almost envy you the ability to sleep through the film though - you should have seen it in the cinema I did. The somewhat mis-tuned sound system meant that there would have been no chance of anyone sleeping through it (or of understanding 100% of the dialogue - it was only when I saw it on DVD that I actually heard either of Jazz's lines as anything other than gibberish). It is true we all have blind spots. Every now and then I go through terrible periods of buying Star Trek novels, even though 90% of them are shit. It's been a year since my last relapse.
I did once have a terrible urge to pick up the R1 full series Armada DVD sets, but a few minutes watching it on youtube reminded me how shit it was and the urge quickly left me. Actually, youtube has saved me lots of cash in similar ways!

I'd think about it, but I read the TF wiki entry on the cartoon.
Especially the long section called Errors.
And the episode descriptions.
Brrrr.

While terrible, it's beaten in the Shit 100 by Armada and especially Cybertron.
And any cartoon which makes Armada look good is an abomination from beyond this universe.

I never liked any of the TF trilogy either. I've already mentioned that I thought Energon was 24-carat shite but I also think the same about Armada and Cybertron too. I brought a DVD containing the first three or four episodes of Armada a few years back and thought it was terrible. It spent too much time focusing on the kids than the TF's which is a big no-no in my book when it comes to TF cartoons.

Energon does show the first Transformer courtship. I am, of course, referring to Optimus Prime and Omega Supreme...
Someone should make TF Valentine's Day cards. We've already got Optimus Prime's "Give me Your Face (so I can kiss it)" and now the Omega Supreme chat-up line, "My own spark recognises yours"

Seriously though, I may end up buying multiple versions of Sunbow and the japanese series but I can't see me buying any of these.
