These lists are usually meaningless in the face of personal opinion, but quite fun to read nonetheless. Even Transformers (2007) makes in there somewhere. I bet you can't guess where! www.empireonline.com/500/36.asp

I beg to differ. The Matrix is in the top 50.
That's a bollocks film.

Aw, I don't know... It's the same as if Q did another 'GREATEST ALBUMS EVER VOTED BY YOU' thing (which they inevitably will). There's no accounting for other people's taste, so why worry? Taken out of it's sequential order, it makes for a decent list of 'good' films with an acceptable balance between popcorn and cinephilia. I don't know, I guess I'm mellowing with age... Mx

I seem to get angrier. I think I will be on Grumpy Old Men at some point. Most of the films are pretty decent - though the Matrix is not. It smells of wee.

As usual with these lists I find much to disagree with in this one. It does please me however to see "Yojimbo" in the top 100, and "Seven Samurai" placed slightly above it. This is clearly as it should be in relative terms.

The Matrix is one of the worst films I have ever seen. Somebody lent me a video of it once and I watched the first half one night, got bored of it, watched another half hour of it the following night and couldn't be bothered with watching the end of the film. I couldn't see the point in humans trying to break free from the computer world where everything is hunky-dory so that they could live in a barren world which makes living on the moon without a spacesuit seem like a dream holiday.
