Nor is it likely to be reprinted as they are some of the issues for which people were not paid for their work. I am now in a position of being glad some poor bugger wasn't paid.

You could do a Withnail&I - everytime you get to rubbish part take a drink - you should be out of it by the end of the first issue.

The above was courtesy of hinky digital copies long since deleted.
At the weekend I was at a charity comics event with Andu. He found the Micromasters mini in teh comics bins and made me buy them.

I found my copy of Micromasters #1 the other day and reread it. Perhaps my expectations have been lowered by recent fare, but it wasn't as bad as I remember.
It still suffers from way WAY too many characters who arent' defined at all, too many sub-plots and some plots that require you to have read the ongoing. If it had just say, followed events from Countdown's POV as he returns to Cybertron and just concentrated on 4-5 key characters, it'd be far far better.

The art is horrific though, sub Pat Lee spongy blockbots.

I've just read Micromasters again - it does read better if you also read G1 v3 #1-6 just before it. For the whole Jetfire & Countdown split in space stuff.

I understand one of our own was given the wonderful gift of the Micromasters comic series in this its' 10th anniversary year.

Ten years? My god.
I stand by my assertion that we have had far worse inflicted on us over the years that makes Micromasters welcome in comparison.
And the popularity of My Little Pony shows that Pat Lee was right and there was a market for a comic about multicoloured luminous blobs of marshmallow. Dohohoho.

Micromasters is nigh-unreadable. Andy

I think we've since had comics which are even more badly written (McCarthy and Costa) but we haven't quite had that perfect storm of bad writing, bad art and shit premise since Micromasters.

Everything came together in one unholy turd of a comic. Andy Although (and I can't believe I'm saying this) in its defense, at least Micromasters was trying to to something new and interesting with characters who weren't the G1 1984 Sunbow crew.

I agree. It was the execution where it went wrong. I'm no fan of the Brad Mick gestalt's writing style but at least they had a vision for what they wanted to do and there's certainly a lot of reading in their comics. They take a while to read.

That isn't always a good thing though, as Micromasters demonstrated.
It's not a great story, but I do think I'd hate it less if there was a more competent artist on board. Now Ruffalo's colouring abilities are fine but he is hands down the worst sequential artist that has graced the pages of Transformers.
I don't speak about the quality of the rendering, that is another matter but the storytelling in those four issues is the worst.

The Gruffalo's stuff is not the best but I think Joe Ngh (sp?) is a thousand times worse. Folk can get better though. Alex Milne's work used to be a nightmare to parse. Many a time in his older work I had no idea what was going on and every character had the same facial expression. Now, however, he's matured into an excellent artist in both of those areas and I now feel joy when I see his name on a new book!

Not seen much of Ruff since Spotlight: Sixshot which was better than Micromasters. Andy

As you will all know a Micromasters Forfeit operates in all comic marts and related events. The rule is this: if one of us sets eyes on a copy of the Micromasters mini-series the comic must be bought or honour is lost. This causes untold terror whenever looking through back issues.
Thus did Burns today have to buy Micromasters #1...for a fiver.
*weeps*
