Now out on DVD.
Things I have learned so far, that I wish I could unlearn:
1 - 1981 Animated Thor has a pretty average voice actor 2 - Surtur runs around in pants. 3 - Kraven the Hunter keeps a photo of Firestar in his pants. 4 - Firestar automatically fancies any male guest star.

Also, Iceman denises who he truly is.

I have beautiful childhood memories of the transforming room with the computers and stuff. I think it's safer for me not to risk ruining those memories by re-watching.

Well I wouldn't say it will ruin your childhood memories but I've found it quite ordinary viewing so far. It's just a bit too formulaic and the writing by Christy Marx and Donald F.Glut doesn't ever really get past workmanlike to fun. The voices of the principle cast are spot on, but the villains and guest stars don't get much thought put into them. Which doesn't help the show.

It does also have the five minutes of unskippable ads. BLOODY UNFORGIVEABLE. That's the second dvd in a week I have bought that does this. The Rock: The Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment dvd set does the same.

Unskippable ads are very annoying. I've only run into them once, on a DVD that Funamtion put out and it did make me more than a little ill-disposed.

I too experienced rage at the minutes of 5 unskippable ads on the Spidey DVD when viewing Andy's copy the other day. At that point it switched from 'must buy' to 'will view using Other Means' for me. It's a very stupid thing to do. It really isn't going to encourage anyone to buy your product when Other Means exist. It's also a stupid way to use the medium. After all, VHS had a skip function: fast forward.

Disc 1 of the Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors boxset also has a few annoying ads at the beginning of the DVD. As for them being unskippable I think you can fast forward them by holding down the skip forward button.

Been watching this. Sadly, it just does not hold up. And Iceman (my favourite back in the day) is a complete prick.
Should have stayed a childhood memory.

I loved Iceman as a kid also. The way he changes into Iceman by freezing himself in a block of ice and then breaking out of it I thought was wonderful back in the day.

I will say, however, that the Red Skull episode provided the most splendid 23 minutes of entertainment I have seen in some time. It's just an escalating cavalcade of crazyness!

In general I'm not too fond of "Spiderman and His Amazing Friends" - can't stand Iceman and Spiderman appears to be so incredibly stupid that it defies description. The Red Skull episode however was a diamond in the rough. Just when I thought it couldn't get any more bonkers it did. Karl

Generally, the show has not aged well but that episode is a keeper. Along with the 2 x-men episodes, which I shall presume will be on volume 2.

I saw this DVD in Woolworths at the weekend and steered clear of it when I noticed that it only had about six episodes on it. If I am going to get the show on DVD I'll wait for a boxset because I can't stand it when numerous DVD's are released of one show just to grab your money and then, a few months later they release the whole lot in an ideal space-saving boxset.

There are, confusingly, two seperate releases just out. The volume available in Woolies is a 'best of' type DVD with a handful of episodes. The version Zavvi are selling is a double-disc set called 'Complete Season 1' and has the first 13 episodes of the show.
The confusing releases plus the ads problem - well done DVD producers!

To add to your confusion, there is now also a 'Complete Season 2 and 3' box and a 'Complete Seasons 1-3' box.
Holy consumer confusion, Jetix!
