Heroes series 2
Well, as someone that hasn't seen it yet, limited as we Shockprowls are to terrestrial TV.
Off to an ok start. The 'Big Bad' watching Molly etc is quite spooky, like that. Peter not remembering who he is, bit dull, but see where it goes. Mr Bennet/Dr Suresh planning to take down 'The Company' looks good. But Hiro going back in time, meeting his idol, who turns out to not be a hero, whome he prob will have to turn in a hero to put the timeline back- boring! Dull! Been done! Shame such a brilliant character as Hiro is lumbered with this cliche storyline. No Sylar or Nicky yet. So, as I say, an ok start. Hope it doesn't go 'Lost' on me.

Anybody else watch the first episode last night?
Wasn't too bad and only a couple of things annoyed me - more riffing on Days of Future Past. Please let it go, and Mohinder acting a bit odd, unless that becomes a plot point later on.
Loved the special effects they used for the speedster that met Hiro.

I've seen up to ep 3 so far and the end of ep 2 is bad. Hopefully they'll improve upon certain charcters and plot points, but for the moment I'm unimpressed.

Andrew- how come you didn't watch episode 2 on BBC3 right after??
Mohinda has always annoyed me and it seems cliched what they're doing with him. The Sylar revealation, also cliched. Sigh. It's the old "Oh my, the audience won't see this coming" writing, but then when it happens the intelligent audience realise that shoe horning "twists" in to an existing universe is a bad idea and shows a lack of creativity.
Mike Myers did the same thing with Austin Powers 3 and that sucked big floppy donkey dicks.

Mock The Week was on BBC2 and I think Frankie Boyle is one of the funniest comedians around so I watched that instead.

Mohinder's behaviour left me befuddled.
I never watch the next episode of any series when it's shown immediately after on another channel, for two reasons. One, I like the anticipation that comes from waiting week on week. Two, it leaves nothing to watch the next week. Three (eh?), for some reason, I find that I remember series much better in the long term if I watch them on a weekly basis rather than in a chunk; I've watched several seasons of Stargate SG1 and Atlantis first on DVD and I remember those I saw on TV much better.

I watched episode 2 straight away as I'll just keep watching BBC each week. Kristen Bell and Francis Capra in the show makes me very happy.
So far so good the time travel element is being use differently as the future we've already seen (well one at least) has already been changed so its a different set up this time. Episode 2's twist actually makes a fair bit of sense really.
The pace has also picked up compared to the first two seasons.

I had reservations about series 3 after the lackluster series 2 of Heroes, but decided to watch it because I loved series 1. However I've been disappointed yet again. Can the writer not think of a new plot? Three series and three variations on the same 'save the world for from a future disaster' theme.
It's really clear to me that the writers only had one story in them and that was series one. It had a beginning, middle and end, with characters who's own story arcs started and logically concluded in this series. I find it frustrating to watch Parkman, Clare, Sylar, Nicki and HRG in series 2 and 3 as I felt that they had come to a natural end to their stories. And Clare has felt like dead weight since Peter saved her in series one. She's just not interesting now she's not the cheerleader who's saving would save the world. Ooh except now she's evil in the future and has black hair. Great plot twist guys.
I'll stick with this series to see if things get better but if they don't I'm dropping it.
Also I too didn't turn over to BBC3 to watch the next episode for exactly the same reasons as Andy. I'd love to see Frankie Boyle live.

What John has said reminds me of what I feel about Heroes. I don't watch Heroes which is odd because in theory it has elements that I would enjoy but I've got no interest in it so I've no idea of the story of Heroes, in fact I more enjoy watching the Heroes Unmasked bits after the episodes to see how all the special effects were done.
I remember saying to someone I know that I was surprised how popular Heroes was because I felt it borrowed from X-Men i.e. people with superpowers. I felt that this concept had already been done with X-Men so I was surprised Heroes became popular because I felt it was the same thing. Again, I don't read X-Men comics but I know they've been going for decades so it surprises me when John says that each series of Heroes is a variation of the same theme. If X-Men can have all these decades of different stories, why can't Heroes? To this end, I'm worried that Heroes is just going to rip off X-Men to get ideas because X-Men was established before Heroes.
When I first heard about the film Jumper, I thought to myself that this is just a rip off of Nightcrawler from the X-Men. I was even more surprised when, am I right in think that Jumper made it to number 1 in the UK box office when it was released? I couldn't believe that people would find Jumper interesting when X-Men have already covered this theme with Nightcrawler. Why go to watch Jumper when you can read an X-Men comic with Nightcrawler in it.
Now it seems that ideas are being taken from Heroes, I've noticed that there is going to be a film out called Push, about people with special powers:
It seems to me that people can't help ripping off other people.

The last episode was shit. Also Sylar has super-hearing so could have easily heard what HRG said. I hate it when writer can't even remember what's happened in their own stories.

There's been so much bad in this series, the writers just don't seem to care. And why is Ali Larter still in it, she's terrible, as are all the characters she's played so far.

A guy at work was complaining about the same thing. He's on the US schedule (yeah- one of those obsessive downloader types) and has an even bigger gripe regarding electricity for a future episode. As for Sylar, I guess he doesn't have other people's powers, he just understands how they work and can implement that himself (or at least, that was my understanding of his power). So I guess you could argue that either he's forgotten how his hearing works or just wasn't using implementing its use at that time. But people can always come of with convoluted ways of explaining plot holes can't they!

Sylar lost all his aqquired powers at the end of season 1 didn't he.
Either way I'd say Sylar does have access to collected power but doesn't automatically use them in the way their original owners would have done.
On a related note I've been watching Crossing Jordan on Hallmark for the last couple of months which was Tim Krings show before Heroes (Damon Lindeloff was also involved before going on to Lost) and now on to its last season (the year before Heroes started) and the last few episodes have been like Heroes audition reels.
First Mrs Petrelli appears as a cold hearted mother whose just lost her son. The next episode Sylar appears as a son who finds out his parents weren't really his parents.

I agree Ali Larter should have stayed gone along with her son and extended family (although I did like Mica's cousin last season).
Theres just no need for Larter other than sex appeal and with Claire and Elle on the show they've got the blonde thing covered. Speaking of Elle (or is it just El?) why is probably the most interesting of season twos new characters still only a guest star while Maya's interminable story has only just now, finally, gone away. Or is Elle not that interesting and it's just that I still miss Veronica Mars?
New writers might be a good thing now. I'm still enjoying the show but it does need shaking up for the next volume o now is the time to make those decisions.

Hey this weeks episode was pretty good!
Also on the loss of Sylars powers he still has his telekinetic powers and Future Sylar used both the future painting and nuclear-bomb powers. And in the episode he got his super-hearing he then spent sometime trying to learn how to control it so he wasn't deafened all the time, implying he can't just switch off his powers at will. I'm sure you can explain away why he couldn't hear HRG but I think it points to sloppy writing. I mean Heroes is essentially a show for nerds who spot this kind of thing and will argue about it on internet forums...oh.
