About 30%. More in the winter, as lesser supporters reduce their intake in the cold weather.

Is this *really* and seriously 2012??? Because I swear, every year we degress by at least a decade over here. No link, I'll have to try to find something, but I watched this on the news. I'm not sure if it's Tennessee as a whole, or just Memphis itself, but over there, they are trying to pass a law that makes it illigal for underage minors to hold hands or hug. Because it's called, I shit you not, "Gateway Sex."
Oh my goddess, the stupidity.... seriously, if I pack myself up and mail myself over there, will one of you guys take me in? To quote Professor Farnsworth.... I don't want to live on this planet anymore.

Surely legislators are just putting these mad schemes forward as a laugh and are just as shocked as everyone else when they pass. I wonder how often that happens over here, too.

I will never understand why people run around with their arms in the air over the slightest hint that human beings actually are engineered to get into the whole 'beast with two backs thing', whatever their sexual preferences. It's like getting into a raging panic over wanting to eat.

Well, Tennessee is pretty dang nutty. They, and Arizona are two of the states that are most out-there for stupid BS laws. Texas can get pretty out there, too, with our good ol' gun totin' Rick Perry and his fun times at Niggerhead Ranch as out governer. At least once a week I want to shoot myself.
Oh, on topic for news... this isn't a big deal, they happen all the time. But there was a car chase today in and around Dallas. Happened at Noon, and lasted for a little over an hour. Like I said, not really that big or spectacular. It started in a neighborhood nearish to me (15 miles away, maybe?). Headed into dallas, drove around downtown, then got on the freeway, headed back out to my stomping grounds, and then back out into downtown dallas again.
Well, if I hadn't been watching the news, I'd have ended up in it. Because it started just as I was about to head into town to go to the bank. And I would have been there on the same roads they were on at the same time they had gooten around there. >_<
Also, a local story (Houston maybe). A woman walked up to another woman leaving a gas station, shot and killed her, and stole her baby. They recently apprehended her and got the baby back, unharmed. She said she did it because she just had a misscarage, and was afraid her boyfriend would leave her if she didn't produce a child.

I never saw it on the internet. I can't access most news sites. So I actually still *watch* the news.
Problem though, is the news organizations are so out of hand, you never know what's genuine anymore, and what's "opinion." Aside from Fox News, at least. You know from the start you can throw everything they say straight in the trash.

No TV here, so I'm the opposite... But it was actually my other half who told me the truth of the matter from the sofa behind me when I mentioned it to her, she tends to keep on top of the news better than I do it seems.

Woman fired after donating a kidney to her boss.Short version: She worked as a secretary when her boss came down ill, and needed a kidney transplant. She offered her own kidney to her,and was asked if she was sincear. She was. Boss however had a doner in line. Woman decided to move to florida, boss told her for that offer, she's always welcome back. Lived in florida for a while, came back. Doner fell through, boss allowed her to come back. Then asked if the offer was still good. She wasn't a perfect match, but her offer allowed the boss to move up the list. She donated a kidney, and the boss got the one she needed. A month later, boss who was still at home in recovery, started pressuring woman to go back to work (Who was also still in recovery). So she went back, and couldn't handle it. Had to go back home. Boss started calling her and berating her for not going in, and eventually fired her. Sounds like my last boss.

We could start by telling him to go f*** himself, but unfortunately Scotland has voted into power a party led by the country's biggest corporate fluffer. It was on a few Scottish front pages yesterday that Salmond had offered to lobby Westminster on Rupert Murdoch's behalf to help him gain full control of Sky, because apparently he doesn't have enough work to do. On a lighter note, here's a story about storing rainwater that has many sentences that work nicely out of context. ""You should not have problems in the UK with mosquitoes, but if you do, there are special gels and crystals you can add to your butt to stop them breeding." -Nick

Missiles placed in residential areas? Is there anywhere on earth free of stupidity?
Oh yes, the abyssal planes! Only scientists go there!
"Excuse me, Ma'am... would you find it terribly inconvenient if we installed this missile upon your roof?" "Just don't bother my begonias."

Probably more wisdom in that 12-minute interview than I hear/read/write/say in a typical week. Martin
