Who is your favourite fictional character?

Be they from book, poetry, film, comic, television, music, or other realms of the imagination, who is your favourite fictional character?

I'm torn between:

- Scheherazade, heroine of the 1001/Arabian Nights' Entertainments, the greatest fictional storyteller of all time, who risked her life by volunteering to marry the insane Sultan (who, driven mad by his previous wife's infidelity, believed all women treacherous and vowed to marry daily and kill each wife on their wedding night) but who forestalled her death by telling him stories (including Aladdin, Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves, and the voyages of Sindbad) for 1001 nights straight, each night leaving off at a cliffhanger so that the Sultan would spare her life another 24 hours, and who after 1001 such nights brought the Sultan back to his reason, saved the nation and lived happily ever after

and

- Wile E Coyote.

Runners up include Alice (as in Wonderland), Edmond Dantes (the Count of Monte Cristo), Ebenezer Scrooge, Sherlock Holmes and Winnie-the-Pooh.

Tintin, Captain Haddock, Prof. Calculus (the Tintin comic books)
Asterix, Obelix and few other characters (the Asterix comic books)

There are a few others but I can't remember them at the moment.
