Next Saturday, I am attending a prayer breakfast / conference at one of the local Churches. The guest speaker is Gary Grant who is the founder of The Entertainer.
There is likely to be a Q and A segment too. If anyone has any toy industry or figure related questions of interest I can pass those on.
If anyone would be interested on the offchance of coming along to the meet, PM me for details.
So yeah, I am going to meet the guy who founded The Entertainer (and The Gadget Shop). Just thought I'd share that.

If you're in a subversive mood (especially if he turns out to be a boring speaker), you could ask if the local branch will have Harry Potter toys in stock next Sunday. ;p
Okay, I'm only joking, but it just occurred to me that does raise an interesting point on the issue of morality and apparent contradiction in the stores. The Entertainer doesn't stock Harry Potter toys because the owners feel it encourages children to dabble in the black arts and so forth; also they don't open on Sundays for religious reasons. At the same time, though, The Gadget Shop sells those ceramic teddy bear figures (the name of the range escapes me) that are dressed in various kinky costumes, performing lewd acts and other morally questionable antics. Whilst your church group may not be the appropriate forum to bring it up, it I am curious how they justify the apparent contradiction and hypocrisy.

Haha. I had a feeling Potter would be brought up. Interesting question too since the Gadget Shop sells all sorts of other kinky items, not that I have been looking around for them of course.
I may actually ask that though.

Bad Taste Bears, that's it. Though they're not listed on the Gadget Shop website, so perhaps they don't sell them any more.

For a micro-second, I got excited because I thought you'd be meeting rock star and now infamous lover of young people (to put it mildly) Gary Glitter. But alas...

Not Gary Glitter I'm afraid. Although I was doing work experience at the PC World in Bristol around the same time Glitter's PC was brought in for repair. I did'nt meet him then either.
The Church Meetup went OK. It was certainly interesting to hear how Gary Grant started out in the toy business. He's pretty big on Crazy Bones at the moment and has put them and Ben 10 stuff over as a huge success.
