What if the Transformers brand were to carry on for, say, another 100 years and outlasted all of our lifespans? What would the completists do?

I think completists are broken already. There's too many of those Japanese lucky draw things for a start

Does anyone remember those pictures from Botcon 2004? The Hartman brothers had managed to gather one of every TF toy ever made from their own collections with, I assume, some attendees filling in the gaps. It filled over a dozen 8' x 4' tables.
Since then the Energon, Cybertron, Robotmasters, Classics, the Movie, Encore, Animated, Henkei and Universe LINES have come out. Lines like Alternators and Masterpiece were just starting. That's another table each in most cases. Surely for reasons of space if not budget a lot of the completists have given up. I gave up halfway through Armada (having started with RiD) and I'll either have to move out by the end of next year or put in some buttresses downstairs to stop my bedroom collapsing under the sheer weight of plastic.

Thankfully I've never been a completist. AlthoughI came close with BW for a while. Oh and Primes, but that ended when I knew there was no way I would buy the powerlinx repaint of Armada Prime.

I have every BM. Including 2 Supreme Cheetors and the deployer and beast rider repaints, lols.
It was then that I realised things were getting silly and cut back to just show characters for RiD. Then Armada came along and I decided that there was no way I wanted all of those fecking pieces of shit so I just went for the interesting toys and leaders.
Now Animated comes along and I want all the show characters again, damn.

I went through a completist phase when Armada was out. Had most of the line. Also used to have a Prime/Convoy completist urge.
Thankfully, I grew out of both! It was for the best.
Though I do want to get all the Action Masters!

I can't be a completist. I'd get murdered, divorced, and murdered again. But I don't want to be a completist, I just want the characters that I want. Just so happens that there's an awefull lot of characters that I want!
I suppose, in 100 years, they'll be 1:1 scale Unicron toys. You couldn't be a true completist without one of those badboys!!!!

Ah darn it. I thought everyone had forgotten 'bout that...
Serious though, I thought a completist was someone who attempts to collect EVERY Transformers fig EVER. This true?

But when you throw in packaging variations and things like the unreleased G2 combiners, they're going to be in bad shape, hrm? Heh, that auction was so awesome. I'd forgotten about that... What was it, Streetwise??

The chase is better than the catch some might say. If you have everything - what next?

I know what you mean.
Sometimes wanting is as much fun as having. If that makes sense.
