Worst Beast Wars repaint

Following on from the shock of having to look at Universe Silverbolt we present a poll for the worst Beast Wars repaint.

If you think another toy deserves the honour to one of those listed then explain why !

While I UNDERSTAND the concept of the Universe Silverbolt repaint, and its really rather clever, it doesn't move away from the fact that it is a purple and yellow flying wolf. Horrid.

I've obviously missed something: what is the concept that explains the purple ?

I think silverbolt's a worse offender than most because there are more sensible/appropriate colours you could put on it.

An even worse offender is something you should put a G1 colour scheme on !

I remember that BW Snarl repaint in Robot Masters was pretty awful.

If I remember right, all the FK repaints were bad except for Tarantulas.

I think most of the repaints were pretty horrendous. The point of Beast Wars was to be "real" animal modes with, therefore, realistic colour schemes. So changing the insect chaps to blue/pink/whatever was a bit silly to me.

But yeah; Universe Silverbolt... He ain't got no alibi, he ugly, he ugly!

But yes, Robot Masters Snarl was horrific. A blue Tasmanian Devil? /what/?

The rm snarl was going to make the vting list and then I forgot the name and then forgot all about it.

The worst BW repaints are the ones that disregard the actual animal. It's one thing for Transmetals to be wild and bright colors, like a gold and blue cheetah, it's another thing for the original cheetor beast mode to be mostly blue, gold, and silver.
And if you repaint one animal into another, then it has to make sense. Cheetor repainted into Shadow Panther makes sense. Cheetor is somewhat generic enough to pass as a jaguar, leopard, or cougar. Cheetor does NOT pass as a tiger, though. I'd list Tigatron as one of my top worst repaints.
Way more so than *any* of the fox kids transmetal repaints.
I'm more lenient on most extinct animals, and insects. They could have gone way more wild with the insects than they actually did.

So when I judge a BW deco that represents an organic, real animal, I look at what the real animal actually looks like, and if the toy/sculpt can actually pass with that deco.
There are no purple baboons, as such, a purple B'Boom repaint would be a terrible idea.
There *are* species of red wasps, so a red repaint of waspinator is pretty reasonable.
It's highly doubtful there were powder blue wooly mammoths. As such Ultra Mammoth garners a "what were they thinking?" When they could have decoed it white with blue frosting down at the bottom (a reverse of the deco they chose), which would have actually been more on point to the character they were homaging!

So yeah, I look at the decoes and judge them to what is a reasonable approximation of something found in nature.
All bets are off for robotic beasts, though.

But based purely on aesthetics, I'd list Armada Terrorsaur and Predacon as *the* worst BW repaints. I mean really, those colors are just purely ugly. At least U. Silverbolt captures the spirit of insanity in G2.

The blue is really, really deep. And definitely intended to represent black, in the same way deep blue is used in comics.
Meaning, Bound Rogue is actually way more realistic to a real tazzy, than Snarl ever was.

Because everyone can look at a lion and say "But why did they make it hot pink?"
Not everyone can look at a velociraptor and say "But why does it look like a plucked chicken?"

Awesomebroness doesn't persistently and intentionally suppress what real animal colors actually are, and deny it representation.
There are people who think Jurassic World is an accurate portrayal of dinosaurs. Dispite them actually saying it's fictional in the movie, there are people who think Indominus Rex was a real thing.
