Some of us London-based hubbers are having our usual pre-Christmas drink on Sat 6th (shame about the clash with the Scots, but I doubt anybody would have made it to both, anyway). I'll be there, along with Wilson, Wrighty and (I think) Alan and O. There may even be some Andy B action and one or two others.
Pub is yet to be decided, which, in practice, means the rest of us will suggest drinking holes and Wilson will refuse all of them until we say the one he likes.
If anybody else fancies getting drunk fashionably early before Christmas, then you're very welcome.

I did wonder if you might've. I'd see if we could move it, but it was a struggle to even get that date for the few of us who're def going.
Wrighty has far too busy a life.
We'll have to try and plan it earlier next year. To be honest, you'll be much better off beyond the border as the Scots are much better organised and will have actual stuff 'to do'. Show offs.

the Scots are much better organised If the Scots marched south and called on the non-Metropolitan English to rise up and join them, breaking from London rule, would the Londoners cross the M25 to stop them? Ne'er mind. Maybe next year. Martin

To be honest, if the Scots want the Welsh, they can have 'em

To be honest, if the Scots want the Welsh, they can have 'em Dydy Nigel ddim yn mynd i hoffi hynny. Ond mae Karl gyda nhw yn barod. I come to London on business about once a month. I'll probably be there on three different occasions in January. Should hopefully be able to see you guys sooner than next December. Martin

Speaking for myself I shall hopefully at some point next year make it back down to London as it's been far too long since I've been down there.

Weekend work is not a good thing.
Martin, it'll still be awhile before our paths cross again; I'm off to S America come Jan 2nd, so you'll have to make do with the Jameses and co until June. Andy iff I'm around when you're down, a beer will be in order.

Wilson will refuse all of them until we say the one he likes. Too right. I don't like your fancy cocktail bars, just want a place we can sit around and listen to old war stories from paulwright.

Phil, if you mean what time on the 6th, I imagine we'll start early afternoon, say 2, and keep going until trains start to become scarce. It'd be good if you could make it.
Jim, you'll really make it feel like Christmas with your Scrougelike powers! I'm not sure you could call the Pyke a cocktail bar, although it can be full of cockheads at times. We can try a new pub if people feel like stretching their horizons, but I'm happy to just sit in the 'Head or the Oak. I just wish we could get some vodka jelly for old time's sake.

I was hoping to make it, but the cold that never ends has forced me back north to recuperate.
Probably for the best I doubt I can spare a full day to drinking and another to recovery.

I can't make either sadly. It's been like since 2001 since I did a London pub meet. I've never done a Scotcon (yet) but that is one event I want to at least do once.
I hope both gatherings are merry and happy and are a great get-together.

Chances are we'll be meeting again the weekend after too if the Borkett is coming down.

'Fraid I'll be visiting family next weekend. Generally need a little bit more notice than one week, though am keen to see you all again.
Have a good one (or two).
