No I'm not talking about cosmetics as I firmly am against that and believe most people are as well. I was browsing a favourite blog of mine and he linked to this article on The Sun's website. Now I have to say after looking at it and reading what little text there is I feel deeply uncomfortable about this. How much of it is due to the sensationalist style of prose is unclear I mean on an intellectual level I can appreciate the potential benefits for treating burn victims and the like but looking at it right now all I can see is some pointless cruelty being inflicted on animals in the name of progress. This sort of thing would *never* be approved by the Home Office here in the UK and without there approval it does not happen. In fact I doubt any researcher trained here in the UK would even consider this an acceptable use so the chances of it ever getting to the Home Office (via all the intermediate local ethics boards) is zippo. Yes, there are training benefits but these are really insufficient to justify the suffering caused to both animals here.
