They ruined Trek? I hadn't realised they were so involved in Enterprise. So involved? They *created* Enterprise. Enterprise was Bragga's baby. @the Doctor, Yeah, some good stuff came out while Burman was involved, but it went downhill after Roddenberry died, and bottomed off once the two of them chased off Jeri Taylor. TNG Season 7, DS9 after Taylor left, Voyager, Enterprise, the TNG era movies.

I think we will disagree on both DS9 (the best seasons were its last few) and First Contact. All excellent.

Workmate got a delivery at work today: all of DS9 for £55 from Amazon, unussed. Remember when these sets were sold for RRP £Stupid?

It is entirely possible a couple of the episodes on the TNG Blu-Ray sampler disc found their way to a certain popular video sharing and viewing website. Jings, it's a shock to actually see the show properly remastered at last. Like restored vintage Who, however, this does mean you are seeing it a higher resolution than ever intended so you can see the scuffs on sets and the joins in the make-up but you get used to it. The space FX really pops now.
Hmmmm, if there is some way to get a Blu-Ray drive plug-in thing for the desktop* then these releases become a must-have (I avoided the DVDs as they were just the same masters used for VHS dumped to disc).

*Still no desire to own a telly so I watch DVD's via the desktop.

I would have thought that Blu-Ray compatible external drives should be around by now. Probably still on the relatively expensive side though given the way the tech curve works on these things. Karl

I shall invest in one when the season boxsets come out then. Put my money where my mouth is: I long maintained I would not buy TNG until properly remastered versions were produced (which considering the amount of money TNG has generated for Paramount really isn't asking for much).

I have been watching a large chunk of Deep Space Nine, in an ongoing attempt to fill in the gaps in what I saw at the back quarter of the BBC 2 run. I have come to the conclusion that Gul Dukat is perhaps my favourite recurring villian in any of the Star Trek spin-offs. They started him off as a stock Evil Space Facist, then gave him emotions, a daughter, respect for some of his enemies.... and then we get the episode where he and Sisko are stuck in a cave together, along with Gul Dukat's hallucinations - and we get to see that not only is Dukat as thoroughly mental as they come but that he is also frankly Evil Space Facist to the core like a stick of Evil Alien Space Rock.
But what makes it work is the conviction that Marc Alaimo projects through thick layers of latex. He makes the audience see that Gul Dukat absolutely believes his every action has been reasonable and totally justified. I've seen a fair chunk of season six now and, whilst big space battles and Magnificent Seven pastiches are entertaining, the highlight has definitely been an episode which boils down to Marc Alaimo and Avery Brooks locked into a single set together.
