We filmed a promotional video for Fort Max in the pub. He was generally kept away from Turn & Burn for his safety. Tomorrow I'm going to put the vid together and send it to Mr Wallace who has kindly agreed to put it on the Auto Assembly youtube channel. Then I'll put Max up on eBay and put the word out on the UK forums. It's all for a good cause, baby. Bertie- if you're still in the market when I get back to the States you can give me a budget and I'll see if I can pick one up for you. Assuming you don't win this one of course -Nick

So there we go.
The promise to myself was that after I'd scraped together a deposit on a house (20K), ALL of my salary was mine, no saving. I'd been saving since I left Uni / Since I became a TMUKker / Hubateer and I'm finally here.
Well not exactly, I'm actually at 19K but I'm anticipating I will get to 20K. With the 21st grand I was going to buy some cool stuff. FM being one purchase.

It's a massive donation to charity, WITH a free Fortress Maximus.
It's only money.
It's Fortress EFFING Maximus. It is most TF fans holy grail.

It's mind blowing.

He is. I first got Brave Max in 2001 and my mind was quite broken. I'd been after one since I saw him in the Jolly Giant toy superstore in Crow Road when I was 7- there was a colouring competition on to win one of five. I have never concentrated on colouring something so intensely in my life. This fella has been the first Fortress Maximus I've ever owned, and even though the effect was buffered by having owned Brave and Grand it was still quite an emotional moment pulling him out of the box when he arrived at the residence hall in Iowa -Nick

I've owned TWO Braves. I sold my first in the pre wedding clear out. I bought my second last year from the mighty ToyFu. Hecame with a repro Master Sword and thanks to Mr Bogatan I now have guns.
What Elliot needs now is Spychangers and Legends. There's command posts and jail cells to fill.

I nearly got RID Fort Max - paid for it in advance £80. But Diamond cancelled it due to not meeting US toy safety.

Diamond didn't cancel it: Hasbro didn't produce the toy.

Ah but in this case they are 100% innocent, as indeed are Hasbro. US Child safety laws on the other hand....

I've always assumed the drop test was how much damage it would to a child if it fell on them, not sure how they'd test that, though!

If it was that they'd never reissue original Optimus Prime: getting hit by that cab hurts.

Wasn't it missile length being the main reason that they don't reissue certain toys [apart from Wheeljack who's mode is broken] - that in the US they give them longer missiles & super strong springs while when released over here we get the normal sized missile & the spring removed so doesn't fire.
How many spring guns does Fort Max have? Expect them to be the same as Metroplex's twin guns.

All reissues over here were the same as the US - spriings plus super long missiles.
The original G1 figures had extra weak springs in the US and UK, that may be where the confusion arises.
I don't think missile length has ever been a reason given to not reissue a figure, pretty much every reissue has had missiles modified to be longer.

Missile power was variable in my experience- most of my original chaps were weak, but my Hound (picked up at a branch of Tesco in Perth in 1989- I remember because I was shocked to see it so long after the original line was out) had a pretty potent launcher.
Pete- the Max has no spring loaded missiles. The only spring loaded feature in it is the car launcher in the torso (I think- not entirely sure how that mechanism works).

My three strongest missile launchers:
G1 Optimus Prime repair bay Turbomaster Boss (very 'potent') Generations Thunderwing (I ran and hid)

Armada Unicron, well at least the first three were so strong the toy could not retrain itself.

I have a feeling that some of the early instructions included a note saying that the missile launchers were mainly to hold the missiles in place rather than fire them
