oddly the six? I have bought second hand have not suffered from murderous rages, maybe the springs mellowed with age. That aside the chest is still the biggest disappointment on that toy. I would have much preferred it to look like the 86 movies chest, but even if it didn't it's hard to imagine it could look much stupider than the sloping wedge we got. I would have loved that figure had the chest not wanted to shoot me in the eye every time I coughed. Such a gutting disappointment, especially given how expensive it was (and on a student budget too!) and how excited I was for it But yeah, it does mellow over age. After a few years it was fine. But I was still too scared to really touch it.

I took it back to Woolworths, pretending to the nice old lady employee that my non-existent son didn't want it. I still feel guilty about that.

I took mine back to the Toys'r'us I later worked at for several years. I told them straight- the launcher was not to be trusted and shot me in the side of the head unbidden. They brought a replacement but I managed to fit a flat Mini-con I'd brought with me into the back without undoing the twist ties and showed that it had the same problem. They gave me my money back. I spent it on more Armada toys. Surprise surprise.

Well fair play to HLJ they got back to me and offered a full refund including original postage and return postage or 25% of the price. While the full refund is tempting so that I could go out and buy a brand new complete one its not a realistic option. Firstly I'm still waiting for a Fed Ex customs charge and don't know how or if I can get that money back or avoid paying it if I already sent Max back. Even ignoring that concern getting a replacement from Kapow would cost me £100 more than HLJ if I dont get cuta'd, and still £40-50 if I do.
And then theres still a chance I end up with a worse problem.
So 25% off it will be, can't complain it either covers most of any CUTA or takes the total cost well under £200.
Though before I make a final decision I will have a long look to make sure there arent other issues.

Warden is here, and I am at work for another hour. Torture! All this Warden love is making me wonder why I haven't paid him much attention. I'm thinking it might be the completionist in me struggling with not having Fort Max. Is the reissued Fort Max worth getting? The big pull is his size but with FoC Metroplex fulfilling that particular niche, I'm really not sure...

Fort Max wipes the floor with Metroplex. So so much better, if a little less poseable.
Warden: it's the lack of leg guns that ruins it for me.

I think I am more of a fan of Fortress Maximus than I am of the new Metroplex. It is the proportions of the humanoid mode - Metroplex is good, but Maximus has the thick and chunky limbs which give is a real sense of "density".

Both Max an original Metroplex are mighty toys.

I am waiting to have a room big enough to display the city bots in their cityesque glory.

Blimey, that's not a bad price.
Fort Max is a glorious thing indeed. Never owned one. Never seen one! But if I had the space and cash I'd have a Fortress Maximus and no mistake.

I have to admit I have yet to get Metroplex and any of the Maxs in the same room to compare them, but Max still seems bulkier, but Metroplex does that weird optical illusion were everything around him seems to shrink.

Max is indeed bigger. He has considerably more mass than metro, even if he's a bit shorter. I've never compared them side by side, though.
But Max has way more mass, and quite a bit more play value. He does more things. There's a weird thing with articulation... If a toy is too small, or too big, articulation starts to work against it, and that's happened to Metroplex, I think. He's too big for his articulation to be useful.

He's too big for his articulation to be useful. I've don't own him, but that's what I've taken away from all the reviews I've watched of him. He just seems lanky. Still a fantastic looking toy, mind.

A toy that size you want it to stand properly rather than be poseable, so a straight up stance is what you'd need.
However the arm turn at the shoulders, bend at the elbows and rotate at the wrists which is VERY decent for a toy of that age. About the only other things you could want them to do is swing out to the sides and have a bicep swivel and that's asking a lot of a toy that's 26 years old.
He is easily the best articulated G1 Base Bot.

I would really like a Fort Max, but honestly the originals colours are by far the least tempting to me. Which is lucky really, otherwise I'd have bought that giant Encore figure with no room for buying food or paying bills!

He would have made my BBTS PoL this month if I hadn't have just grabbed MP Soundblaster and a G1 Blaster for an MP Blaster custom. It'll be ace but it's fleeced me this month. Also, I was on the verge of shipping until I heard the collector's club Fisitron has shipped. Now I need to wait for that to arrive at BBTS before I ship it.
... By which time it will be summer holiday time for me and I won't have the pennies spare to pay the ransom.
Life was so simple before I asked if fort Max was worth getting. I've bought a few turkeys in the last couple of years so I tend to check for older stuff. Never before have I received such an overwhelming, "GET IT!" than I have on this thread.

I still haven't been able to bring myself to pull the trigger on a reissue Max even though it keeps popping up in sales.
