A fairly strong insult in Arab cultures that - so I guess that the journalist in question has made his feelings known in no uncertain manner. It sounds like his colleagues and the security minders weren't much more restrained in their response to his actions either mind you.
It is indeed a shame that things in the world in general don't stop at insults being thrown, rather than anything else.
