You ok Doc'? I loved this film. IMHO it's one of the best comic-to-movie efforts I've seen in actuallment. Just a good effort all round. I particularly liked the cast. And my dear Lord is Jess a honey. Yep, I call her Jess these days. We hang out. She digs me. (in the dark place in my mind...)

I second Ralph's "NEARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRAGH! GARARARARRARAARA! NNNGHHH!" It's pretty terrible.
But I enjoyed it more than Spider-Man/Daredevil/Hulk. At least FF doesn't pretend to be deep.
The ending with the 4 being drawn in the sky was the corniest, cheesiest thing I've seen in my life (apart from Wotsits), and made me cringe. But it was preferable to Peter Parker doing his lost puppy routine.

FF: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER is one of the most terrible movies I have ever seen. A failure in every department.
The first two Spider-Man movies are also arse-grindingly terrible. No intention of seeing the 3rd.

Can't believe you think it's as bad as that?! I loved it! Silver Surfer was well cool! I haven't seen Spidey 3 yet. No time damnit! But FF:Surfer was just a good old-fassioned super hero rompt, and as such stands up to any other of the genre in my opion so there!

Fair enough.
For me, I thought the acting was atrocious, the script dire, the direction flat and the dialogue leaden.

After the first one, I had no intention of seeing this. However, since i have developed a deep affection for terrible films, I might summon up the courage to view it.
How does 'Galactus' look? I heard he's like, a big cloud.

Not seen this yet, but surely any movie with Jessica Alba in can't be that bad.

Why make Galactus a cloud?
WHY?!
WHYYYY?

I wouldn't have minded him being a cloud if it made sense in the context of the film, but it doesn't. The Surfer makes gloomy prounouncements about having to serve "him" but all I could think was: "It's just a cloud!"

I second Ralph's verdict on FF2. It was utterly without merit. Michael Chiklis is the only one who's trying- a lack of conviction (or even interest) from Doom made a normally fantastic character painful to watch.
If this atrocity did enough business to merit an FF3, they should totally get the guy who did Ghost Rider to direct it. GR was silly and it knew it was silly, but at least it wasn't *ashamed* of it.

What utter, utter shit this movie is. However it was possibly redeemed by the scene where Jessica Alba burns all her clothes off.

I refused to even watch the first film it looked so bad, but as the second one approached I watched the first on Sky and to my horror was mildly entertained. Going in with low expectations helped a lot I think. So I saw FF2 and again expectations set low still it wasn't bad the cast works fairly well except Doom of course. Alba still feels wrong in the role though. Silver Surfer was cool. The cloud bugged me so I chose to believe Galactus was inside a cloud of debris, left overs from his last meal no doubt.

What utter, utter shit this movie is. However it was possibly redeemed by the scene where Jessica Alba burns all her clothes off. And it wasn't long enough nor had any interesting camera angles! Yet another thing the movie couldn't get right! There was even a possibility of a Thing V Bear fight, but even that was denied to us! Fie! -Ralph

No I haven't, are they kinda much better than the films or something? But that's always the case with this style film.

They are, quite simply, some of the most mind-bending and fun comics you are likely to read. Can I draw your attention to Essential Fantastic Four vols 1-5? Very cheap on Amazon, 500-ish pages of utter madness per volume.

Bear in mind they were first written in the early 60s, pre-sexual revolution and at the peak of the cold war. It doesn't come up much, but when you see communists portrayed as frothing lunatics and find that female characters' only function is to stand there and look pretty, just remember it's a product of the era -Nick

Indeed, they are a product of their age. They put a lot of modern comics to shame though with the sheer amount of stuff in each issue. No 1-issue-story-padded-out-to-6-issues bollocks. The famous 'Comng of Galactus' storyline is one of the most epic and extended of the run. Starts in the middle of one issue, takes up most of the next and finishes half-way through the next.
