Ouch. Not having a good day, keep falling down and dropping things. My stomach's not feeling great and that might be playing the CMT up. Get back in your bed and put the telly on! Bed with a book this morning. Finished the SFC review this afternoon. Toddler home for tea and bath shortly.

Turns out last week's assertion by the letting agency that my deposit would be returned in full and this week was a pack of lies on both counts. It saddens me when people go back on their word for no reason. May have to take this to Citizens Advice because currently I have £0.00 from them and who knows what I'll get or when.
Still nothing from the benefits agency, 17 days since I started a claim. Looks like I'll have nothing at all over Christmas. From anywhere.
I did completely lose the plot earlier in a 'straw that breaks the camels back' moment. Luckily, the walls, doors and furniture were not damaged.
In a mild bit of positive action, I registered with a link service for helping people back to work. Nowt will come of it for a few weeks due to the time of year though. The worker I met was very nice and appeared quite genuine.

Go to Citizens Advice and also telephone them (the letting agency) and advise them of this and that you will also be contacting Trading Standards regarding the matter. You'd be surprised how often this sort of call yields results.

I still have an inexplicable urge to watch SURPRISE PARTY. It's even ready to go in a youtube window, but I have resisted!
I haven't even got the excuse of booze. I've been off it the last week and a half and will be staying off until New Year due to continual space lurgy.
Something strange is happening to my mind.

Ralph, you could also get in touch with the Office of Fair Trading. There's also the threat to take things to the local press (I know that sounds a bit theatrical, but it might scare the agency as they wouldn't want any negative publicity).

I've been fucked over again. The benefits agency never processed my claim for Jobseeker's Allowance as they have no evidence of it. So no cash from that avenue either. Don't think I'll bother signing on next week. What's the point?
You know what I'd really like? I'd like to come on here someday and say: "Hey, everyone! Something great happened! Life is good. No worries!"
Transform! Roll out, whatever.

Don't worry Ralphy boy. I was in the unemployment game for ages, and it just got more and more depressing, but keep plugging away and you'll get something out of the blue!

The end of my week is actually looking up. After being laid-low on Tuesday by the space-lurgy and mostly confined to my bed I have had quite a productive couple of days. I've got quite a few things done and dusted at work and, although there is a lot of work to come for the beginning of next week, it is all good stuff in the sense that it will all result in "closed cases" which will make for less to do when we return in the New Year. I was even feeling well enough yesterday evening to nip out for a couple of drinks with some old friends. (It had to be a couple, or one and a half if you prefer as I had to work today and two pints of Guinness impair my motivation to get up at half-six in the morning). Friday tomorrow, another day of polishing a few things off and getting the decks clear and then into the weekend.
Considering the time of year I find myself unusually chipper.

I watched the first part. I would like to point that eleven thousand other fools had done it first. The line: "What's that you say?" brought me joy. I shall brave the second part once I have fortified myself with dinner. Daniel and Wheelie have crash landed! Oh no!

Will there be a Week 53 this year? I wanted to be subversive and do "Week Minus Two: 2009" instead of "Week 51" this week, but I'm never on-line at the right time. Maybe I'll get in at some point in January and start a "Week Minus Fifty: 2010" thread. Aaaaanyhoo... Very relaxed tonight, as I've just finished work for a fortnight. Had five Christmas dos of one sort or another between the three organisations I work/volunteer for, with some excellent and some so-so food. Didn't get plastered or have any hangovers, despite consuming virtually an entire bottle of wine yesterday lunchtime. Mixture of Cardiff and Bristol over the next two weeks, with a day trip to an uncle in London at some point. This is the first Christmas that the four of us won't be together on the 25th, but as that's because my sister's now in a serious relationship and therefore providing the old folks with hope of grandchildren I'm not complaining. They'll be joining us on Boxing Day. Mum's health isn't great these days, so my main priority is hoping she manages to enjoy the week. I fear the thousands of new jobless won't be having a fun time, regardless of their normal feelings about Christmas. Wish there was some way I could help, Ralph - if you think of anything, let me know. At the lakes tomorrow. Wrap up warm. Martin

Ralph, I have every faith in your luck changing in 2009. As for your current madness of watching Surprise Party I understand that discovering that BT hires the services of COBRA and the lettings agency screwing you around would cause something like that to happen.

After a rather up-and-down week I find myself arrived at the weekend. I spent the last hour and a half of Friday in the office on my own (stayed back after the office closed to get some stuff done) and found it quite productive, and also slightly spooky. That may have been to do with the wind whipping crazily around the building and the rain rattling off the windows in the darkness mind you.
I still have a couple of days work to do next week (we don't close up until the twenty-third), but I am better off than my sister who is working right up until lunchtime on the twenty-fourth. Fortunately I am feeling in a high-octane and can-do kind of mood, as Monday will see an impressive pile of work arrive on my desk over the course of the day, which I would rather like to get sorted out before the year-end.
But all told it is going rather well. Spent the day today doing some food shopping to ensure I am well topped-up on the basic staples, pottering around the house and finishing off a fic for the Fictionary 7 thread (to be posted when it has been checked for spelling howlers) and catching up with some of my pile of watchables. A fairly enjoyable day all told, this week seems to be closing itself out fairly well for me.

Very true. I wasn't even drinking when I watched it. Darn that Destro! I plan to redress the balance by watching DARK AWAKENING tomorrow. Easily the best Sunbow ep, bar the pilot 3-parter. -Ralph
