It should be. Stamps are going up all the while and soon they will be more expensive than a loaf of bread.

Fortunately, they've increased the price of a loaf to compensate. The cheapest I can find is around 95p in my local supermarket. I have recently discovered that the price of postal orders has also increased from 50p to £1.
Request for the thread title to be changed to 'Royal Mail increase price on Queen's Head' for the Daily Mail shock value.

Fortunately, they've increased the price of a loaf to compensate. The cheapest I can find is around 95p in my local supermarket. Suppose that depends on weight. Just enjoyed a lovely 400g loaf of white tigerbread from Sainsbury's fresh bakery which was 67p. The above-inflation rises to rail fares today bother me a lot more than the prices of stamps and bread. Martin

Just wondering if I should use up my existing stamps before April, although some of mine say 1st on them rather than the price. Surely those won't be obsolete when the increase starts.

No, they should still be valid. In fact, you should be able to save money by stocking up on them before they increase in price.
