The Gaza strip is going to hell, but according to the Daily Express's front page there is no news in the world, just another 'people on benefits are evil' non-story. You can even phone in and vote. Gods, I hate the Daily Express. It fosters hatred.
In other news, Bernard Cribbons is 80 today! Hurray!

The Gaza strip is going to hell If I could indoctrinate the children of the world with one thing and one thing only it would be the principle that two wrongs don't make a right. It would make all these tit-for-tat conflicts so much easier to put an end to. Still, Northern Ireland gives hope, and Obama may manage to do something. Back home in Cardiff now. Mowed lawn! It has kept growing right up to Christmas. Tonight I watch my newly acquired Dark Knight DVD. Tomorrow: to Sainsbury's, to stock up for New Year. After completing a questionnaire for the Energy Saving Trust I was contacted by phone with details of 50% grants for cavity wall and loft insulation. Because my house was built in the early '90s it already has cavity wall insulation, but I agreed for a contractor to come round and give me a free survey of my loft insulation needs. He was very friendly and cheery, and told me honestly after having a look that it was already thick enough and didn't need a top-up. Nice of him not to try to sell me something I didn't need, though it meant he lost business. As I saw him out and wished him better luck at the next house he visited, he offered me his hand and wished me a Happy New Year. It's nice to meet such people in this life! Martin

I'm currently posting from the missus' new laptop - which I got her today as a late Christmas present. It's a nice wee piece of kit - kind jealous considering my own laptop is nearly 4 years old and crumbling fast.
Was hoping to nip into Glasgow today, as i have £20 Forbidden Planet Vouchers - but didn't get the chance. Tomorrow i shall venture in and hopefully pick up some TF action.
Any suggestions?

He isn't out yet here.
When I was last in FPG, toy-wise they had Universe Sunstreaker and Acid Storm and Animated Swoop and Sentinel Prime.

Hmmm....I'd usually just plump for both Sentinel and Swoop, but that would mean that the Autobots would have a significant numbers advantage in my household. At least Animated-wise.
I'll have a look at what they've got tomorrow - and unless there's a new Ex Machina or Fables trade out that i don't have (there isn't) then I'll be splashing out on TF nonsense.

I do recommend Jack Kirby's OMAC in the graphic novel sale. It's mental.

Haha, I'll be sure to have a flick through it when I'm in.
I've just lost interest in comics recently - with the exception of the books mentioned above. Nothing's really pushing my buttons to the extent that I'm looking forward to the next issue - I'm just buying them out of habit. Or i was - to be more accurate - as i haven't bought comics in 5 weeks now. I'm probably saving around 40-60 quid a month by just cutting a load out. Once the current Sub-Mariner miniseries ends, I doubt I'll buy singles ever again.
So there, a wee ramble about something which nobody asked to hear.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless Galvatron, Cyclonus and Scourge are fed to the rift in time and space at New Year then the world ends anyway!

Got woke up in the early hours by drunk teenagers yawping at each other. They had decided to sit down just up the road so the noise went on and on rather than just being something that quickly passes by. After 15 minutes I decide I'm going to get my car and run over the most irritating of the shits. Then I remember I don't have a car After another 15 minutes I'm struggling to think what I have that could be used for violent bludgeoning when a neighbour comes to the rescue by shouting abuse at them. They then bugger off. Hurray!

Due to having left Jonathan's copy of Dear Zoo at home we had to brave Kingston yesterday. Thankfully a disabled badge and local knowledge found us parking away from the town's traffic system which was bad. But nowehere near as bad a the shops. Waterstones was OK, but the queue in HMV was round the store preventing me from looking for Liz (40th) birthday presents !
Then I got knocked down coming out of the lift and it all went downhill from there.

Stayed up but wasn't in a celebratory mood.
An odd year for me, far from bad, but lot of wasted potential I think.

Joined in the New Years festivities towards the end down my way even though I am not too keen on NYE.
I had a reasonably good 2008 myself. I hope 2009 is better.

I went out for a few drinks last night and then did what I do every year - slump in front of the TV at 11.55pm and watch the new year in on BBC 1. The TV coverage that runs on various channels doesn't interest me too much and so I just watch the 'main event'. Jools Holland and Elton John's celebations are never to my taste so I avoid them. After Big Ben had struck twelve I switched over to some of the music channels (which prior to midnight were playing the song The Final Countdown) and digested several music videos until I couldn't be bothered to watch any more TV.

Spent NYE roadying for Supergrass at their Belfast City Hall gig. Still lugging flight cases and speakers at 4.30 am, freezing cold but the craic was great.
Plus making money instead of spending money rocks!

TGI Friday Kids Christmas Party at church in an hour. I may get roped into donning the Santa outfit, for which I have my old black wrestling boots in reserve for. As fun as being Santa sounds, I think an older gent would be more suited for the role.
The Afternoons line-up includes party games, a film, food and some Punch & Judy. It's certainly nice to have a party at this time and in a sense a good way to see Christmas off properly before the decorations and colour are put away until next time.
Looking forward to this Afternoon's Doctor Who: Confidential too. I hope David Tennant's replacement is a worthy one.
