What are your thoughts on the Austrian Oak?
I believe that he is the greatest movie star of all time, and that films like Predator, Commando and Total Recall should be sent into space so other planets may enjoy their ballsiness.
Political aspirations aside, do you enjoy an Arnie flick? What is your favourite?
Mine is Hercules in New York.

I have a soft spot for old Arnie films. Commando is hilarious. I do like The Running Man, even though it is complete crap when reviewed critically. Total Recall makes me laugh.
The most terrible Arnie film was the Christmas comedy one where he was trying to get a super-hero action figure for his son and ended up 'as' the super-hero in costume and everything. I wept.

I feel that Conan the Barbarian deserves a mention here, if only for one of the best training montages in cinema history. Conan starts off as a scrawny youth pushing a grinding wheel with three other guys. One of them drops from exhaustion and the other three strain to keep it moving as he's dragged away by the guards. Ten years later, it's just him and he's been Arnie-sized. A fifteen second sequence that tells you everything you need to know about the character.
I'll always have a soft spot for the first Terminator film, too.

His mere presence isn't enough to make me enjoy a film, but when he is in a role nthat suits what he is best at, and the rest of the film works well. Then sure, I like him fine. I do have a soft spot for "Terminator" - a good low budget action-movie that makes a bit of a virtue of having no cash. "Total Recall" I agree should be sent into space. Give me a few moments and I will suggest some candidate stars we could aim it into, but for the fact I wouldn't want out species to get a reputation for dumping our rubbish in other folks backyards. Jingle all the way? I have that. I have them ALL! Surely you jest?! I saw it in the cinema, in thrall to the Arnie-effect, but even then it was terrible beyond belief. I would always go to see Arnie films. I felt betrayed! Betrayed! -Ralph

Austrian Oak?!?!
I like him. His earlier films, Commando and the like, are great action movies. Predator is his best work. That film is just sooooo good, "over here, turn around". But his later films I didn't enjoy. From about Last Action Hero onwards. Jingle is poo, and Eradicator or whatever it's called is poo too. IMHO of course!

Gotta love Arnie. If you haven't already, I'd also recommend you check out ArnoCorps ( www.myspace.com/arnocorps) who are, in no way, an Arnie tribute band. Ballsy. Mx

Love that tribute band.
All hail Arnie, when he had "it" he was awesome, sadly after The Last Action Hero he lost it and it never came back.

I thought he did have a return to form for the surprisingly decent Terminator 3.

It was a watch once film, and to be honest not all that good. If you took Arnie out of it the film was a bit pish. He was comedy gold throughout but the story and the rest of the cast were pants I thought.

Oh I'd forgotten T3, I Really liked that movie. Good ending. But sadly Andy is right, Arnie has lost it. Will he ever get it back?

I'm quite a fan of most Arnie films with Terminator 2, Total Recall, Comando and The Running Man being among my faves. But he has made a few stomach-churning ones as well like the aforementioned Jingle All The Way, Twins, Last Action Hero, Kindergarten Cop and Eraser.
