I have discovered that wholemeal toast with Frankfurters, garlic mayo and Jarlsberg cheese makes a most splendid combo indeed.

I know, I know. But I like 'proper' sausages and I also like Quorn sausages. Cauldron sausages are also nice (veg).
I stride all sausage worlds.

Huh, you don't know these days! Terrible affair. Thank the maker we only use proper meat products from proper butchers! We're blessed with four to choose from in town! All award winners n'all!

Yessss... I return to hallowed ground tonight, The Clifton Sausage in Bristol.
Whilst the missus was not too impressed with the batter from the Toad In The Hole from our last visit, the mixed sausage plate with one of each of their main sausages, champ and my own jug of gravy calls to me again.

Dammit, there is only two sausages left in Turnbull Towers. That is only enough for one roll!

Tasting plate, substituting the Clifton (Pork/Cider/Wholegrain Mustard) for the special (Pork/Apple/Black Pudding), along with 3 other sausages Lamb/Mint/Rosemary, Beef and Old Spot. Served with Parsnip Crisps, Champ and my own jug of gravy.
The Old Spot was particularly good and juicy. So much so from now on I shall only have a plate of these sausages and forego the indulgence of a mix.
The missus had the slow roast pork belly, each bite oozing umptious rendered fat with a crackling edge. Lucky girl. This was also served with a Clifton sausage on top for luck.

Live expectancy... I grew up expecting to be nuked before I was thirty. Next to that the occassional sausage pales as a threat. Not going to allow this to stop me enjoying the occasional sausage or two.

The number I heard on the news this morning was a recommendation not to exceed 70g a day of processed meat to escape the danger zone.
Of course, the threat comes not from the meat itself but from the high concentrations of salt and preservatives in processed meat in general. All the more reason to buy fresh from your local butcher!
