I was going to skip this, despite my love of Japanese TF picture books, being low in cash and all but after I saw the Agent of TRU's copy, I decided I could catch the bus less for a while. Gorgeous, gorgeous book. Like any good art book, there's a wide variety of styles. Not every piece was my kind of thing but there was enough to keep me happy. There is some duplication of material from Generations Deluxe but such images as the Trypticon cut-away are reproduced much larger than there and more detail is visible, so I really didn't mind. The highlights are some fab black and white art featuring Optimus Prime and more of the colour G2 manga. Well worth a few quid. That does look rather good. I am very partial to a good art book, and this does look like it has some nice pieces in it. Might consider picking that up if it comes back into stock at HLJ.

Well, I've got my copy of "Visual Works" and I am very pleased with it. I've seen some of the art before, but not at this size or this well presented. There is an awful lot of stuff I haven't seen anywhere else as well - Page 108's picture of Starscream wearing something strongly influenced by the Valkyrie's GBP armour, and the "Armoured Megatron" who appears to transform into an M-16 caught my eye for example. Stuffed for of colour art, character models and even some G2 manga pages I hadn't seen before. Definitely a worthwhile purchase from my point of view - well worth the fifteen quid I spent on it.

FPG have got a copy in and they want £37 for it. Or, er, get it for less than half that on-line.

Mind you, I saw what they wanted for the "Standalone Complex Complete" artbook so it doesn't surprise me. Still and all, nice book but one better enjoyed at something closer to the cover price. Karl

For some reason the stuff in the International section of Previews is horrendously expensive, they should look into changing their supplier.
