Why with the Dreamwave art did we have to have all the screw holes on the toys drawn?
We never had this with Marvel.
The artist would draw the toy with the panels complete not just draw all the holes for the screws from the toys. Most have stickers going over them or lines that the artist should just follow them on.
Does it bug anyone else?
The art is good - but its just the holes that are not needed.

I think the artists at Dreamwave were told to draw the Transformers more like the toys than the Sunbow/Marvel character designs.
I really noticed that when Pat Lee did those two Armada issues.

I just looked at the G1 Vol1 TBP and I can't see what you're referring to. Can you link to any examples?
I like the level of detail in the DW art; it's Pat Lee's horrendous perspective and anatomy that always annoyed me.

I didn't mind them to be honest, except when we saw actual screws in the holes, just making them a feature was good, with some random tech texture underneath worked for me.

It was mainly in the profile books where we saw them the most.

Pay no mind to the artwork in the MTMTE books!
To this day I remember getting the first issue, all a quiver with anticipation, and seeing Air Raid with his eyes somehow floating above his helmet.
If you're gonna draw from the toy then here's a tip: look at the fucking toy!!

The art in All Hail Megatron is starting to get a little silly as well with Kup going around with a cigar-shaped bit of metal in his mouth.

Most of the illustrations are slightly below average.

I think that's probably something of a love-it-or-hate-it idea. Having watched lots of John Wayne type war films growing up, I can see what they're going for. Post-Spotlight, Kup is not only back, he's back and he's bad**s. Getting back on topic, "Dreamwaves screw holes". Do they, really?
