Here's the scoopI'm up for this. I found the Alvin & The Chipmunks and Scooby Doo remediations surprisingly good. Garfield 1 and 2 not as much. ===KEN

The reservation I have is that the slapstick humour that is the hallmark of Tom and Jerry cartoons is likely to be diluted in a real world setting, especially with the criticism in recent years of the cartoons' "violence".

True, that. I am not expecting the same with this venture since it seems to be an origin story and a new approach. I am sure this venture will be amusing all the same, and will cut corners to not upset anyone who wants to be sensitive and PC about it.
I'm sure there's going to be dialogue too since the mainly silent approach would'nt work for the pacing of a film like it did the toons.

Many years ago somebody made a Tom and Jerry cartoon where the two stars had voices and I remember being appauled by this. Since then they have made many more cartoons with dialogue for the cat and mouse and none of them have been any good. Tom and Jerry will forever remain silent characters as far as I'm concerned.

CGI Tom and Jerry?
That...does not interest me.

I didn't watch the live-action Asterix, Flintstones, Garfield, Scooby-Doo, Alvin or anything else of this kind, and I'm not going to watch this. Sorry, Ken! Martin

Yeah, I agree.
Roger Rabbit and Space Jam on the other hand are epic due to the characters remaining cartoons.
Bugs Bunny and Michael Jordan, too awesome.

I was'nt asking you to watch it. Remediation is an interest of mine nonetheless. If the film turns out bad, it's not my wallet stinging from it. I'll happily spectate and curiously see the result of Hollywood trying to experiment. The old Tom and Jerry toons will always be the definitive way to enjoy Fred Quimby's cat and mouse capers.
