Having noticed a good deal of you guys all have blogs, I was wondering if anyone wanted to do a link exchange. Mine is at www.redshirt.co.uk and I've got a link bar down the right and would happily stick yours on there if you want literally tens of new visitors!

I'm going to pull the 'Lost Victory episode' soon as it doesn't really fit with the rest of my vids and the video quality is pretty bad. I have, however, lost the original so if anyone knows how I could download it off youtube (for sentimental reasons) please let me know. I hear there are ways.

The way I did it with the Tex Avery cartoons was as follows:
1. Load up the video. 2. Search for a .tmp file on your hard drive which is the right size and has a modified date of just now. 3. You probably can't copy, move or rename this file because it is 'in use' and if you close the web browser it will disappear. (That's how it was with me anyway.) 4. Switch your computer off at the power switch, rather than shut it down like you're supposed to. (I take no responsibility for this step!) 5. Boot up your PC. The .tmp file should still be there, and can now be moved and renamed with an .flv extension and watched in VLC media player.
However, I have found this is not a sure-fire method, and is temperamental to which version of VLC media player I use (the latest one doesn't work as well) and when the clips were uploaded. To be safe I've burnt a CD with the cartoons and the version of the media player that plays them on it together.
But I'm sure there's software that converts FLV files back to other formats.

1 - keepvid.com/ to download it 2 - media-convert.com/ to convert the flv to any file you want. It is done online via uploads so there is no software to download. 3 - Profit!

Nice one Blueshift, I can't access youtube properly because my computer must have cancer or something and flash player causes it to crash - but now I can just download stuff!

Cheers, lads. 'Lost Victory episode' is now gone from youtube and safe on my hard drive. What is really strange though is that the picture resolution is much higher on the copy.
