What is your take on the recent situations about strikes over use of foreign workers?

I can see the point some of the british workers are trying to make with their actions, but from a legal standpoint there is nothing being done illegally by the company in question so I think that there actions might not have the desired effect.

I've heard people saying that if it was British workers being sent to Italy it just wouldnt happen. The Italian government wouldn't allow. I really want to know if thats true.
It sounds true, but I always consider the "Daily Mail" influence and suspect its utter rubbish.

It's all to do with EU legislation and no the Italian government couldn't refuse if it happened to them.

What about Scottish charity donations for Scottish animals? Sorry, devolved pals, but it sounds to me like it's the SSPCA who need to get their publicity in gear... but preferably not via news headlines showing them fighting with other charities. Just as there's nothing to stop British workers applying for jobs in Italy, there's nothing to stop a Scottish animal charity appealing for money in England or Wales. Martin

I actually agree with you there Martin. The sight of a charity scrapping in the street is unedifying, and doesn't exactly make me particularly motivated to donate to them. It doesn't surprise me that they have been having issues - a lot of people don't seem to realise that the RSPCA doesn't operate in Scotland. Mind you, the first thing I do when I think about donating to a charity is find out some basic stuff about it. But that does seem to make me different from the norm it seems - lots of folk I work with stick their donation in the envelope for the charity of the month and then ask "what charity is it" afterwards.
