More basic repaints. I'd already ordered Sky Blast off eBay when I wrote the first review thinking they were gone from Woolworths. Got that a bit wrong. Back Wave 2 came so I picked a Clocker up to as the paint scheme had been bugging me.....
Here's some links to pictures and reviews of the previous versions of Clocker:
Clocker (GF Skids) uk.geocities.com/philip_ayres@btopenworld.com/GFWave2.html www.tfu.info/2005/Autobot/Clocker/clocker.htm
Swerve uk.geocities.com/philip_ayres@btopenworld.com/CSwerveSwindle.html www.tfu.info/2006/Autobot/Swerve/swerve.htm
The first version - Clocker/GF Skids - is a truly horrendous colour scheme disguising what is quite a nice toy - as I mention in Swerve's review the fold out panels to pass the legs through is obscene detail on a basic toy.
As I said at the top the colours had been bugging me. The dark blue and black of the car mode made for a very dark repaint but there was just something about them that reminded me of something. Then it hit me - Clocker has G1 Skid's colour scheme ! See www.tfu.info/1985/Autobot/Skids/skids.htm Since Clocker was originally Skids in Japan this makes a very nice little in joke by the designers. TFing the car adds a little grey into the mix - maybe keeping that blue as well would be nice - and sadly the lightpipe eyes are painted over. The Speed Planet key - like the windows is cast in a rather fetching almost clear black.
Nice repaint. Like it.
Skyblast is the first repaint of the Energon Skyblast toy - we covered the second (Air Raid) last week. This version is mainly grey with black limbs - almost a Zombie version The Energon looks gorgeous though - clear and dark, though not as dark as Strongarm's last week. Well worth having. Wish I had 1 more of Skyblast and Air Raid so I could swap the plastics round to give a green jet with black limbs and an all grey jet.
More please !
