Both are wrong. Delayed till the new year according to the manufacturer who's just switched restoration provider.

Is it ever going to get a release or is it one of those DVD's that will forever remain in release schedule hell?

I suspect the latter.

My preorder will remain in place nevertheless. I remain optimistic about this - we are now closer to an actual release than I ever believed we would get. I'm prepared to invest some hope that this one will actually cross the line.

BUM!
I was foolishly hoping that Phil's information was incorrect (as if that ever happens), but it wasn't, and Amazon have now updated their release date to January 2009. I expect to get an automatic e-mail from them shortly.
I was in two minds, but shamed by Karl's unwavering example I resolve to also stand firm and leave my pre-order in place.

"The ol' one-two." - Barry Hercules
And the most awesome closing theme in history:

I won't put in an order until a guaranteed release is announced. I must have this though to put alongside my DVD's of Dangermouse, Dogtanian, Chorlton & the Wheelies, Jamie and the Magic Torch, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, MASK, Pole Position, He-Man, Thundercats, David the Gnome, Dungeons and Dragons, Worzel Gummidge, Heathcliff, the Flumps, Willo the Wisp, Stoppit & Tidyup and the Trapdoor!

Barry Hercules, cool and calm under pressure and possessed of one of the greatest afros in space. He is well and truly the man.
(One thing that has only just struck me - Dai-X appears to have some sort of automatic PA system, that broadcasts a sort of battle-cry/growl to frighten and confuse the enemy. As if being a giant mecha with great big fists, missiles and a supercannon wasn't enough.... One almost feels sorry for the poor Termitroids)

It's the battle cry/growl that makes it.
I have to admit, I find the end theme rather bland and annoying. It's nowhere near as good as the awesome opening theme.

I prefer the end theme over the opening theme which is far superior to Brian May's rendition of the song.

I shall agree to disagree.
But then if my only criticism of a show is the closing theme, then it's a good show.

Decent package of extras. If it ever came out, I was just expecting something slapped on disc. I am intrigued by the comic. Let's hope the remastering job is good quality.

"All 24 Fully Restored Full Length Episodes"
There's 25. One of the Japanese clip shows was never dubbed into English.

From the point of view of "Star Fleet" I would argue that they are correct in saying that it is all the episodes. They wouldn't be correct if they were saying that they had all the episode of "X- Bomber" I'd agree. "Close enough for government work" in this case though.
It is a rather nice package of extras on it - good to see that there are interview elements with folk like Peter Marinker (who I think doesn't really get enough props as a voice actor).

The clip show being missing is not a deal-breaker for me, not being part of the original run anyway.
(it's not like Masterforce or Victory where clip shows which were part of the run were not included on their respective DVD releases)

None of the clip shows are essential, though the first one is nice as it reintroduces the Imperial Master. Continuity is all over the shop on the second one.

My Star Fleet DVDs are being packed at Play.com. They're real. They exist. I'm just so excited. The moment I get them episode two is going to check that it isn't cut (It's the obvious one that I know what I'm looking for - the sequence of Lamia driving out to X-Bomber being assaulkted by alliance fighters while Shiro & Hercules shoots them down is missing from the US compilations). If they get that right then the rest of it has to be fine ....

"Send a message across the skies."
My set is currently packing as well! I've waited a long time for a proper DVD release of this, I am looking forward to its arrival rather a lot. I think I know what I will likely be watching this weekend.
