Planning on skipping this. The first AvP movie was dreadful in every conceivable way and the publicity for this one hasn't been much more than: "It's high-rated! It's got gore! Gore! Gore! Look! Gore! Blood! Guts! Cool!" while neglecting to mention characters or story.

Take my advice - don't. Just... DON'T. Don't worry, I wasn't planning to. I saw the first one and that was quite enough thank you. Karl

Oh no! I was really excited 'bout this! What's wrong with it? *sighs* Just about everything, really. The first AVP wasn't brilliant but I at least found it enjoyable as trash. This one doesn't even climb that high. It's dull, unimaginitive, exploitative, characterless, repetitive and, well, just plain depressing! Plus, the 'Predalien' makes that horrible blobby thing in Alien Resurrection look like an aesthetic triumph. It really upset me to see my favourite movie franchise die so horribly. Avoid. Mx

Oh dear.
Another thing that put me off was when I heard about the bit with the pregnant woman. Sounded vile.

Yeah, that is pretty grim. Facehuggers targeting children and elderly homeless people I found particularly grating, too. All in all it was pretty unpleasant. But the most moronic thing about it is the idea that taking these fantastic sci-fi monsters and transplanting them to a modern, suburban setting would do anything other than completely rob them of any mystery or power. If the alien is supposed to be the most lethal killing machine in the galaxy then how come they can be held at bay by a bunch of untrained hicks with shotguns? Grrrrr....

Glad I cried off the cinema to see this now.
Sounds thoroughly crap.

I am glad I skipped this, it sounds awful. Shame, as I loved the first two Alien films. (Never seen Predator though, oddly.)

Oh no! Doesn't sound good! I actually enjoyed the first AvP, just a good action romp, all I expected from it, and I feel it delivered (I'm easily pleased). I loved the Alien fighting the Pred. But doesn't look good for Requiem. Wont go outa my way to see it now.

I've just listened to Mark Kermode's film reviews on Five Live and Aliens vs Predator - Requiem is at number 1 in the UK box office.

So is it good, or is it bad?

What the..? So is it good, or is it bad? I'd say that the fact that it is Number One at the UK Box Office doesn't bear on the question. All it means is that lots of people are going to see it. That in itself doesn't really indicate whether it is good or bad. Karl

I'd say it tells us that a lot of people *want* it to be good. I wanted it to be good, but it sounds a bit pump so I ain't gonna bother.
