It's a real shame, i think Batman would have been his real big push into the limelight as a great actor. RIP.

Aw, that's a terrible shame. I feel for his poor daughter now.

A couple of weeks ago the Guardian Film & Music supplement was saying that Heath Ledger was going to be the next Jack Nicholson but I think the link relied a bit too much on them both playing the Joker.

It was'nt that long ago he was dubbed the new Mel Gibson.
Still... Heath Ledger was the first Heath Ledger and that's what matters.

Never seen him in a film to my knowledge (though I might have done so and not caught the name). But I look forward to seeing him yet in Batman.

I don't think I have seen him in anything either. "The Dark Night" was going to be my introduction to him. I guess it still will be.
Always sad to hear about any death, not just that of a famous person.

I don't think I've seen any of his films. What is very sad is the way the media made up reasons for his death when the cause of death is as yet unknown. The man had a family, for goodness sakes. Why make stuff up? Why not wait until autopsy results are confirmed, etc before stating he died of 'XXXX'? It's just sick.

I know him best from A Knights Tale which is one of my most watched films. I also saw him in at least a few of the slew of teen romcom in the late 90s. I always enjoyed the stuff I saw him in. Hed been working on Terry Gilliams latest film as well, that man (Gilliam) must have the worst look of any big director when it comes to making films.
And yes the media treatment was fairly horrific. Reporter in Australia were the people who broke the news to his parents. I mean bloody hell.

They don't think it was drugs. Maybe something medical. Guilty of jumping the gun there.

The man's death was an accident. news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7231084.stmI hope the cretins in the media who threw around 'drugs death' or 'star suicide' unsubstantiated claims place nice big visible retractions for the benefit of his family. -Ralph

That would be nice, but somehow I can't see it happening unfortunately. The media's goldfish attention has already moved on to something else several times over already.
