Is currently being serialised again on tv this time on Yesterday (used to be UKTV History) Channel 12 on Freeview, 357 on Sky and I've no idea on Cable.
Fiction based on the Tory Chief Whip Francis Urquhart's rise to power following a post Thatcher Tory Prime Minister.
Well worth watching I saw it when it first aired on the BBC oh so many years ago. Ian Richardson is immense and I still wish he had been cast as the Doctor at some point.
They are working their way through all three stories as well.
Part three tonight of House of Cards.

One of the few times I regret only having access to steam-TV. I remember thoroughly enjoying House of Cards when it first aired. Very good casts - it was the first time I had encountered Ian Richardson as an actor and I was very impressed with his performance.
Now I come to think of it, I seem to remember it having a DVD release a while back. Might be worth seeing if I can stick it in my rental queue.

Likewise it was the first time I had seen Ian Richardson and he was amazing in it.

A towering presence, and yes should have been the Doctor.
Colin Jeavons (of multiple DW appearances) is great as his number two.
And as for Susanah Harker.....

It's good stuff. For once I regret not having multichannel.

Can't seem to get this channel but I remember watching it years ago. May also look into renting.

Ian Richardson is immense and I still wish he had been cast as the Doctor at some point. Andy He usually 'cameos' in Lance Parkin Who books. Parkin wrote a short bit of prose with Richardson as the Doctor as part of a DWM 'who would you like to play the Doctor?' article many moons ago. -Ralph

Final part of House of Cards just finished. Fair cheered me up after a day of fighting a virus infected computer.
To Play The King starts tomorrow.

You know the ending of HoC the book is different to te TV series ? It isn't Mattie that takes the fall..... Indeed yes. I've always been meaning to read the book at some point. It is one of those things that I have never quite got around to tracking down though. Karl

Final part of To Play The King tonight at 5pm. Stamper's meltdown as the second story goes on is well played by Colin Jeavons.

This and Quatermass bodes well. Maybe the BBC are realising they have their own boxset goldmine at last. Old shows that wouldn't be commercially viable for disc releases now, but would have an audience on iPlayer.
More of this kind of thing please!

I'd like to see more of their documentaries get this treatment - you have a chunk of Louis Theroux's work available but so many other docs not available.

Absolutely. Give us anything BBC!
They have had themed archive sets available for a while, there's a good one on steam trains I've worked my way through, but perhaps the 'limited time only' nature may encourage the BBC to think they aren't just giving away stuff. Like how they have all of post-2005 Who on iPlayer at the moment, but only for the summer.
After the failure of the digital shop I'd love to see obscure old series come to light this way.
