I thought we could do with a positivity thread. Tell us about something nice in your life that's happening now in as much or little detail as you like. Put this in 'have your say' to avoid sausage chatter!

But, but what if saugages are the answer?
Ahem. Well, with me, it's my girls. Mrs Shockprowl and The Piglet. Mrs Shockprowl, Sally, may be a toy HATER, but she's got plenty of good points. I consider myself very lucky that my wife is also my best friend. We're a great double act. She's fab. My other girl is The Piglet, The Squirt, The Creature. I can't believe that Katy is 3 in June. Every day she's a wonder and a constant source of entertainment. Watching her learn and grow. It's beyond words. Yeah, they're hard work at times (especially when they're very small, so fragile... terrifying). But now Katy can hold a conversation with me... Brilliant!
So, my girls are my shinning light. Them and fighting my toys. Oh, and driving fast in my Ambulance!
Good idea for a thread, by the way Doc'.

It's finding myself in a relationship for the first time in three and a half years with a lovely young lady and feeling happier than I have done in a good long while.

I think life in general is nice. Hard to name anything specific since it's all good - pretty much.

Taking a deep, chest inflating, breath of fresh air every morning is enough to keep me happy. Anything else is a bonus.

Hesitant to talk about personal good fortune, as all these things are transitory and one person having something often means someone else doesn't have it - it's nice to have a comfortable life, I'll admit, but I can't feel proud of it when others in this world who work harder than me are less well off. However, the following things uplift my spirits greatly:
- The way mankind at large has become so conscious of the impacts of its actions on the world around us during the course of my lifetime. When I was born the environment was a fringe interest, now it's mainstream, in the news every day and a permanent fixture on the world's political agenda. There have been many catastrophes in the history of this planet, but in none of the ones that have gone before have the agents of those catastrophes been intelligent enough to make conscious choices. Had the balance of mankind's impact on the planet and its understanding of that impact been ever so slightly different, we either would have destroyed the planet without ever knowing it, or seen the problems coming centuries ahead and so averted them with ease. But the balance is just so that it could go either way - we are given a chance, and a choice. And I think that's marvellous - it gives us a chance to problem-solve, and test our resolve and our willingness to change our ways - an opportunity we would never have had if we had been either a bit cleverer or a bit stupider. Whatever happens, I think that is something worth appreciating!
- Examples of goodness, altruism or plain old friendliness in people all around us. Whether it's the postman yesterday complimenting my new fence and giving me some advice about fence maintenance, when he could just have handed me my mail and walked on; a random Irish bloke hailing me with "Ah, 'tis a beautiful day," when I was walking along lost in some trivial concern, and failing to notice the niceness of the day; the pub landlord checking with the chef and telling the chap in front of me that yes, he could have a mushroom omlette even though it wasn't on the day's menu; the fact that over half a million people took part in the RSPB's Big Garden Birdwatch; someone from work walking a thousand miles to draw attention to climate change or someone else from work going to Kenya on a charity project related to providing clean water infrastructure - it all gives me joy.
- Spring is here, the birds are tweeting and the bees are buzzing, and there's a new kitten on the block who keeps climbing on my new fence.

Good, well-fitting, comfortable shoes. I have problem feet, which make it very difficult for me to buy shoes that actually fit me properly. In fact it has only been in the last couple of years that I have found companies that maufacture footwear that I can wear without pain and discomfort. It is a wonderful thing to be able to try on a pair of shoes and find them to fit pretty much perfectly.
It is a simple-seeming thing, but it brings joy to my life.

Ha! Just bought a paid of new shoes myself yesterday, mad comfy too.
I'm just going to say that afer 2460 posts, finding out that Piglet's real name is Katy is one of the nice things in life. Presumably it'll be post 4920 when we discover Mrs. Shockprowl's real name. :-P
But as regarding the thread, having a great relationship with my girlfriend, heavy metal records and transforming toys in the post, and some outstanding gigs and festivals on the horizon means life is fantastic at the minute.

Hurray!
Today I ran a 5.5 mile race (costing £6 to enter) and did quite well, strong performance near the end and then got free cake and juice afterwards.
Great way to spend an evening.

At risk of being some hippy caricature, I really like trees. I like the way light falls through their leaves, I like the way they stand against the twilight, I like the way they block ugly human buildings. I can say quite categorically I have never hugged one. I might though, just for the hell of it.
I also like bakewell tarts.

Take any street anywhere in the world, and view it with and without trees. The difference is absolutely staggering. If we could only have trees along all the streets in all our cities, and look after them, then all the bleak grey futures that we see in sci-fi films will be totally undermined. And if our cities continue to grow, as they no doubt will, keeping a healthy tree population in them will go a long way to mitigating the damage. City suburbs with lots of trees are actually probably better for birds than countryside entirely devoted to agriculture. Martin ( Woodland Trust supporter)

I'm just glad Piglet isn't KATY THE TOY EATER anymore. Now instead of trying to eat my toys she just kidnaps them and holds them captive for long periods in her Wendy House!

Nice things in life... hmm. According to Eddie Hitler; Lager and Breasts. But I'm not him. Sadly. My brother, and finishing a piece of "artwork" that I'm proud of.

I had a whole day yesterday, mostly spent at home, without switching on my computer. Mostly pottering about and reading in various chairs indoors and out. It was great. Must try to have a computer-free day once a week if possible - feels really healthy.
