It's terrible. I can reffer any suspicions I have about a vulnerable adult being mistreated to Social Services. Haven't had to yet, thankfully. How the hell can this kind of thing happen? Too many managers covering their own arses.

Dag. Well - obviously under the existing conditions I support the nurse and share the journalist's outrage. However, taking a step back - I'd say that this is just another reason why it's preferable to die at home, amongst family and friends, rather than in a hospital with strangers who don't know you and don't care about you. Good on the nurse for caring, but in general I'm personally not much enthusiastic about hospitals for this very reason... Although I know...I know... it's not that simple... oh well - the cynicism of those folks boggles the mind at any rate. But then again in Poland we had ambulance workers who would purposefully kill people that they were taking to the emergency room and just drive them to a funeral home instead. They were paid monies by the funeral home for every body they brought in. So - whenever they would get an older person into the ambulance for whatever reason - they just kill the fellow and take the body to the funeral home for money. Hipocratic oaths don't mean much to some folks I guess... result is - I don't trust cops, don't trust doctors and would probably rather bleed to death than have some people I don't know ferry me away to a strange place...
