Wow £100 for the complete Japanese and Beast Wars sets. I'll have to find some money for them.

Welllllllllllllll, the content is identical going from the product descriptions. You can pick up the sets for less than £100 if bought seperately. I picked up the Beast Wars sets from ebay Australia at £20-25 each inc p and p.

I think he meant £100 for both. They're AU$100 each, which is about £50.
Shipping and customs might mess things up though.

Yeah I meant £100 for both. I kept looking at the indivdual ones but never did get around to them. Even if I get hit by customs with this it would only be one handling charge at least.

Ah, right.
I never had bother with customs. Ordered them off on-line stores via Ebay Australia so packages marked, ah, appropriately.
I have Madman's Headmasters set and picked up Masterforce, which was advertised as having English and Japanese audio on their website. So I was mightily pissed off to find English audio is only on 4 eps of Masterforce - and the packaging does not even indicate which four eps! I do not like false advertising. So, I did not pick up their Victory boxset - also advertised as having both audio tracks but burned once... Oh, and they are advertised as region 0 but are region 4 only.
The BW sets are decent, though are region 4 only.

They don't have the English audio? Hmm! Is there a release of Masterforce and Victory that does have the stardub?
I need to rewatch BW so I will pick them up at least.

I did see one comment on Seibertron by a chap who said Victory had the English dub, but I haven't wanted to chance £20-25 to find out, just in case. Headmasters has English dub throughout. The Beast Wars sets are really well done. -Ralph

Andy The Stardub is really bad, and the subtitles are really good. Honestly I prefer dubs, but I slipped right into the masterforce version easily. Also the Stardub doesn't include all the Japanese songs in the episodes. So in the original, the battle in space between Ginrai, Grand Max, Overlord and Black Zarak has awesome jazzy exciting music, and in the dub, it is silence.

Horses for courses really. Some folk prefer dubs, some prefer subs. I just feel that as DVD has the technology to have multiple audio tracks that all should be included. To keep everyone happy.

For me it depends on what I am watching as to whether I want a sub or a dud. If it is something like Flag or Ghost in the Shell: Standalone Complex then I will always opt for a sub because it feels appropriate to hear the original language audio track. With Transformers: Victory I would actually quite like the option of having either the original audio or the somewhat bonkers dub depending on my mood. Sometimes I want to watch a fairly seriously pitched giant robot cartoon, and sometimes I'd rather see the "not entirely right in the head" version of said cartoon. In this day and age it would indeed be nice to think that it would be possible to have both audio tracks available. (Although not for Headmasters I cannot even contemplate watching that without the Star Dub ever again. It is too painful a concept.)

I enjoy both depending on mood, but more often than not I watch them in the background while I'm doing other things so subs are no use. The Stardub is so mental it took me a long time to get past it but once I did it was fun. I'll have to rewatch Headmasters with the subs sometime though.

With the dub, Headmasters is one of the funniest things I have ever seen and I never tire of watching it. Whereas in subs it's really dull. Masterforce and Victory are good in subs though.

Oh good I thought it was just me not being in the mood last time I tried the subs.

I have only watched the first five episodes of Headmasters with the dub but I did find them extremely funny. It makes you wonder what they were on when they recorded them!

It makes you wonder what they were on when they recorded them! A piecework pay-scale I suspect, and not a particularly high one either. Karl

They are "the people who rescued Headmasters" as far as I am concerned. Without their dub Headmasters is nigh unwatchable, with it the show becomes a good source of unintended comedy. (It is far from the worst dubbing job they were involved in either).

What is the worst dubbing job that Stardub made. I must watch it!

The three dubs (HM, MF and Victory) are all on a par to be honest. There are gems in all. I recommend watching them all.

HM has a slight comedy edge if the characters are previously familiar to you from the comics.

I've just checked on Amazon's American website and they have for sale the Chinese DVD releases of Headmasters, Masterforce and Victory. Has anyone seen these because it claims it has an English language option and might be worth considering.

Most likely 12th generation VHS copies transferred to a shiny disc. So whilst being the comedy dub editions, will look like crap.

Not officially, no. Unless the Japanese releases had an English audio option.
