Does anyone else remember this book series? I read them all from the library when I was little and it was one of the greatest things ever. The books seem to be pretty hard to find now though. They followed the story of Keill Randor, the last Legionary, whose home planet was wiped out by the evil titular Galactic Warlord, and he was poisoned by radiation. From what I can remember, he gets his body rebuilt with indestructable bones by a mysterious alien race, and goes on space adventures to defeat the evil Galactic Warlord and his minions. There's four main books, I just won the first two on ebay. There's a scruffy compilation volume, but I've set myself the mission of getting all the Piccolo editions with the fab pulp covers that I remember. Does anyone else remember this? And more importantly, does anyone have a Piccolo copy of Day of the Starwind and Planet of the Warlord! (Yes, I could get them easier and cheaper if I went for the other editions out there, but that isn't as fun!) (Can't find a Piccolo Day of the Starwind cover anywhere! I managed to JUST miss a BIN one on ebay, but that had no pics) This cover is amazing! Sadly all the editions on ebay are BINs with silly prices attached.

Does anyone else remember this book series? I read them all from the library when I was little and it was one of the greatest things ever. I remember reading them when I was a nipper myself and quite enjoying them. Quite fun interstellar derring-do and adventure stuff. Pretty pulpy and without any real pretentions but quite solid kids adventure fiction really. The short story collection "Young Legionary" is probably worth picking up too actually. It is a bit variable but the last story is quite clever I do like the deliberate unfairness of the highly competitive selection process for where newly graduated Legionary's will be posted, and the almost convincing logic for why it is that way. Sadly I fear that I got rid of my copy of Planet of the Warlord many, many years ago now. Wish I could help you there. Didn't realise that a compilation volume had ever been done - the only versions I had seen are the Piccolo ones, and those mostly only in libraries. Karl

I read Young Legionary at the same time as the rest, but don't remember being particularly impressed with it. I may look into picking it up as well.

Less emphasis on the space derring-do and more on the whole growing up angle. I do quite like the last story in it and the rest of it is, I think, passable. Not worth paying over the odds for though I would say. Probably best to wait and see if you can snag it cheapish when everyone else's eye is off the ball. Karl

I'm a big fan. Best books ever. The fights are described brilliantly.
I have three sets. The original UK covers up thread. A set of four of the later covers and the compilation volume.

I don't believe I've ever stumbled upon those books but if I had I would have been hooked because I used to love reading those kind of books as a kid.
