So, what are folk looking to pick up at AA? Anything particular? Or are you going mostly for socialising, etc?

I'm not sure to be honest. I've been dismantling a large chunk of my collection recently, but if I see something unusual enough I'll probably buy it.
Mostly socialising I think.

I'm going for the atmosphere of the event. I enjoyed last years convention on many levels. I got to meet fellow Hubbers who I had only spoken to across the net, I got to meet some TF 'celebrities' who I thought I would never meet and I got to browse through an almost endless amount of TF stalls selling toys by the bucketload. It certainly persuaded me to return again this year.

My haul will be everything I haven't sold by the end of the con. Basically, I'm hoping to make it my smallest ever.

Yep, I'm also hoping to go home with an empty car!
I don't tend to hope for anything in particular at conventions, but non-UK Animated would be nice, especially Wreck-Gar and Ultra Magnus.
Incidentally, if anyone is looking for any particular current UK items - toys or tat - let me know, as I haven't purchased all my stock yet and may be able to help you out.

Wasn't there someone seeling comics or trades cheap last year. If so i'll be looking for all IDW stuff from Devastation #1+ or after SL Ramjet.
The full list of everything i'm after is [looking at picking stuff up for under 50p each {30p} or in cheap trades - if anyone selling them at £10 off so £3]
Devastation #1-6
Cyclonus, Hardhead, Double dealer, Side Swipe,
Maximum Dinobots #1-5
Beast Wars sketchbook #1,2 Sourcebook #1-4
Blaster, Arcee, Grimlock, Mirage, Wheelie Blurr, Jazz, Drift, Cliff jumper, Metroplex
what happened to Cosmos?
Animated #1,5+ [did it end with #6?]. v 0-10+
reign of Star Scream #1-5 Revenge D #1-4 A #1-4 Movie #1-4 Tales #1-6 [not out]
The Ark #1,2.

Animated was solicited as 6 issues but only 1-5 were released. 6 was the 'rise of Safeguard' that came with the toy, and I guess they didn't want to release it again as the target audience would have already had it.
All six issues are in the trade, which is bizarrely undersized.

Going mostly for socialising and soaking up the atmosphere, checking in with folk I haven't seen in ages and hopefully meeting some folk I only know from on-line but have yet to meet properly. Haul wise, I'm on the lookout for some comic artwork and hope to pick up some sketches from the artists. Otherwise, I'll see what's there. I find with cons it's more fun not to have a list and find nice things there by rummaging about at the stalls rather than go with a wants list and be disappointed if things aren't there. But that's just me.
Budget to be determined by personal circumstances at the time!

I'm after filling some gaps in my IDW comics collection....
If I have the pennies a MP Grimmy or Megs would be nice...
Apart from that, there isn't anything I'm looking to pick up(although I'll probably impulse buy my way into poverty).

Still don't know if I can afford to go at all. £15 for a night in a hostel plus train and admission is already more than I like the sound of. So if I do make it I'll be after cheap bits and pieces. No expensive artwork this time.

It is possible to enjoy AA on a small budget. I had less than £100 last year inc food and drink and only the kindness of family and friends allowed me to be able to afford to go in the first place. But I found with careful shopping I still picked up a rather nice and impressively sized haul!
If you're really tight budget wise I'm happy to buy you dinner or something, Bogatan.

I'm pretty much there to socialise and perhaps pick up a few bits and bobs. Like Ralph I'm not one for lists, occasionally there are things I know are must buys but usually it's just wander round and have a butchers and see.

I'm not much of a one for lists myself. Mostly because I enjoy the serendipity of stumbling across something unexpectedly far more than enjoy "active hunting".
In honesty I am mostly going along for the socialising as well. There are a few things that if I do see I might be tempted by - a Jetfire whose arm isn't bodged on would be a nice addition to my collection for example. But I'm not sure that I am actively looking for anything much at this stage.
I figure I'll see what I see come the fateful day.

I was surprised at what I brought last year. I had already spent £16 on the ticket to last years convention and also about £10 for the bus ticket to get me up there but as I didn't think I would buy much I only brought with me £200 spending money and expected to go back home with half of that. In the end I spent the lot of it and worse still I ended up cashing out another £100 on a taxi back home because I missed the bus back! All in all it was a very expensive day out for me but I don't regret going because it was a great day.
Primenova says that he thinks that there was somebody selling comics and trades cheap last year. There was - because I picked up a few. These were being sold by Simon Furman himself and I picked up about four recent IDW comics for rock bottom price and about three trades for £1 each and I got them signed by Furman and Geoff Senior into the bargain as well!

Bogatan, after all your help and hospitality during Botcon I think the least I can do is offer you some assistance in getting to/staying at AA. We'll take this to email, chap.

Ralph and Nick thanks for the offers, I think I'll be fine I just wont have a big budget. Thats no bad thing really. I think Im maxed out on space and dont really want anything that badly. Well maybe a blue animated magnus and if I find one of those I'll get it for my birthday. I booked the weekend off from future scheduling at work so I guess I intend to go now. Yay!

Great to know Bogatan can make it, I'm so used to seeing him at BotCon that it just wouldn't be the same if he wasn't there. The gang'll be all back together!
I'm not planning on buying too much either as the budget is just going to be pretty tight with the flight and hotel to cover. On top of that, Ryanair only allow a total weight of 15kg for all luggage combined so that should stop me from going too crazy. It's all about the socialising for me this year.

Not sure what my spending plans are this year apart from a few pieces of art in the auction and getting a few things for the daughter at the moment. The rest I'll just wing it unless any dealers have some Cheetors I'm missing from the collection! lol

Well I have a few things reserved for me already, but i hope to find some movie figures I missed from TF07, like that wristwatch transformer, I'd also like a few of the TFA things I dont have yet, like wreckGar, waspinator among others, but my main targets are older toys, like Magmatron or some G1 things A specific thing i'm looking for is the TPB of Marvel comics TF:Cybertron Redux printed by Titan Books (then I shall finally have all of Marvel US )
