I could have just called it a review - but I'm so compulsive. I haven't even transformed them yet, or taken any nice pictures - just taken them out of their packages and said "oo pretty!" a couple times... and I need to share this with you guys
Hotspot:
One small dissapointment is that his license plate says 'Hot Rod' which is what he was called in Japan I guess. Boo. I wanted it to say Jam! But I can't complain. The colors are fantastic and the chrome pipes are dreaaamy. Jolt, on the other hand is actually lower build quality than the original Armada Minicon.
But, I guess this is one of those strange twists of fate. When Armada came out, I was really amazed by the Minicons who were super poseable in robot mode, had igeneous transformations and were colorful and cool. Their larger "regular sized" TF bretheren were bricky, gangly and gharish (all probably misspelled...).
Now, things have taken a turn. Now the big Transformers is super poseable, extremely well painted and all around lovely while Jolt is...well... unless I'm mistaken - he has no knees and he seems kind of lacking in detail and bland... kind of like this crappy afterthought... it's a pity.
Ironhide:
People (meaning Ralph) have complained about this one, but just like Henkei Ratchet, I love Henkei Ironhide. Teh colors are perfect and he looks good. Well, ok - yes - he looks like somebody took a baseball bat and shattered his side windows and then took an ice pick and sliced the glass on the windows...but... he still looks good! Really! And his face is extremely well painted.
I really like my Henkei Ratchet and I will come to like Ironhide as soon as I get him into robot mode too...
OTHER STUFF: Trailbreaker reveals Devastator!!
Initially, I thought to my self: oh - this is nice - Devastator. Maybe they'll reissue him? But the "poster" on the back of the Encore box, which I've seen a dozen times showing Grimlock eating Kickback has been "expanded" and now includes a hulking Devastator coming in to take on the Dinobots.
Er - and Trailbreaker is right awesome too. Been dreaming of him for ages.
Yay.
I'll write impressions about their robot modes later... but for now... I have some thing almost as big as Fortress Maximus to go play with
Pete
