Just a heads up on something coming soon from BBC Four that might be of interest to those of us with interest in 80's computing. www.bbc.co.uk/tv/comingup/syntaxera/It's a comedy/drama about the race to market of the BBC Micro and the ZX Spectrum. Andy

Sounds fascinating. When I was a kid I had to be prised away from various BBC Micro computers at school. Excellent pieces of machinery they were.

I loved playing Asteroids on the school BBC Micros.
Kids, today, eh? They don't know what real computers are! Back in my day we loaded data on to them with floppy discs! And magnetic tapes!
Tapes!
None of these new-fangled digital cloud bollocks!
TAPES!
Tapes you could hold in your hand! Tapes that were solid and comforting!
EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE! CRUNCH!
That was the sound of tapes!
Fuck off new-generation computers!
Bring back tapes!

My favourite BBC Micro game was this one called Granny's Garden. It was an educational text-based game but one that I always enjoyed playing. Sadly, because of copyright issues it is impossible to find an emulated version of the game on the net so if I wanted to play it again I would have to buy a BBC Micro!

My emulator-fu is almost as strong as my toy-fu. Check your private messages, Zudobug.

Cheers Martin for the clips on the game. I haven't played that game since I was at Junior School but watching those clips made me remember what the game was like. It looks quite short and primitive but when you are about seven years old its one of the most addictive games to play.
Thanks also Nick for the PM's. I will certainly check out the links tomorrow.
