Well, I enjoyed that! Best film I've seen in the cinema this year so far anyway. 140 minutes of 1930s Chicago with Johnny Depp as serial bank-robber John Dillinger and Christian Bale as the FBI man sent to bring him down. Very atmospheric, very stylish, not too gory, not too sanitised, neither over- nor underplaying the sympathy for the criminal or dark side of the Feds. Some cracking scams, but not too unrealistic. Yes, a decent gangster movie. Nothing new or ground-breaking, and it will be forgotten in due course. But solid enough. And it showed a grown-up audience in the 1930s enjoying a black & white Looney Tunes cartoon at the pictures, so there. Martin

Didn't really work for me. Not really interested in the characters or their lifestyle, didn't care what happened to them.
