I enjoyed it so much that I was sad to leave the venue at the end of Sunday. This may sound a little odd but, when I left the doors of the hotel on Sunday night I felt like I was leaving behind something very dear to me. After leaving I had a quick look around Birmingham before going for my bus knowing that I wouldn't be coming back again for another year despite only living 100 mile away. I know how you feel, all Sunday evening, night and Monday morning I was feeling so weird, But I get that at the end of a holiday every time. Before the holiday I get all excited In the holiday I do everything I can When it ends/is ending I get all funny feeling When I get home I feel depressed-ish then a week or two later I'm back to normal .... Then a year later it starts all over again It never ends.....

Meanwhile...
I drew back my curtains this morning to find a Terrance Stamp look-a-like walking along the pavement, clutching a local paper and looking very confused.
Well I'm assuming it was a look-a-like. Of course if it actually was Terrance Stamp, finding himself in Crapsville would explain the confused look.

Turns out I have some annual leave at my soon-to-be finished job to take or get paid for them, so decided to take them. So I'll finish on the 25th even though my proper final day is the 31st. Crivvens. Gives me more time for job searching so I'm fine with it.
I'm still in a good mood.

Whenever I am offered that I take the money. I am always bad at taking leave

I dunno, my gut instinct said 'just take the leave' before I could rationalise it.

Department manager tried to shuffle things to give me tomorrow off, but it didn't work out. We had a truck today (which was supposed to arrive yesterday) and another tomorrow which will probably be a forty footer. Whimper.
Tried to think when I last had a day *off* that didn't involve frantic Toy-fu preparations. Think it was about two weeks ago. Oh well! Stagger on, as Lord Mayor Boris used to say!

I've managed to snag next week off work which is nice but I would have preferred it to be this week so that I could recover from AA.

It's true. I had a pint, but I just couldn't drink any more. Turnbull finished it off.

I certainly have to meet you, Shockprowl.
That's a good set of vids Ralph. I get a better idea of what the layout of the con was like. I can see why the Toy Fu stand got the full-force of the concert. Good little vox-pop interviews with various Hubbers too.

Turnbull's a firm believer in the old maxim of "leave no pint behind".
I'd agree on the leave Ralph, follow your gut on that one.
I'm currently unsure if I am coming down with something or not. It is either a truly rotten cold coming on or I am somewhat clinically sleep deprived. It is difficult to tell at the moment.
Ah well. All I have to do is soldier on until Friday - then I have a long weekend coming up. I think perhap I might spend one day stretched out on the sofa with a good book and some watchables.
(Also, I have new fanzine goodnes which I am carefully rationing out).

I went to sleep for about an hour this afternoon and when I woke up I discovered that, due to the way I had been sleeping my hair had developed a quiff! People say that sleep does wonders for a person but surely it isn't supposed to make you look like Tintin!

Had quite a hard exam this morning. Someone walked out too, which caused a bit of a stir, but in the end I got down to it and gave it my all. Having to wear a cap at the moment. Another self hair-shaving episode at home. Currentley in the doghouse for it too. ===KEN

Finding it very hard to motivate myself through the last days of work. Just want to leave so I can have more time job searching. Ugh. Back in 5 mins. Sigh. Everyone is nice and supportive and all that but I just don't give a shit anymore. I am rather shamefully just turning up to get paid. Oh well.
Driving lesson due tonight: 1st time on main road is the plan! ARRRRRRRGGGGGGGHHHHH!

You'll do fine, Ralph! If I can do it, you can!
Glad the exam went well, Ken. Less so about the head-shaving. Have you many more exams to go?

went to hospital to see a doctor about ongoing pain in my jaw. No real surprises, the result of an infection in my back molar. So thats gotta come out and Im advised to get the one above taken out as it serves little purpose without its corresponding lower partner. More of a surprise was discovering that a tooth on the other side of my jaw which until a couple of months ago appeared perfectly fine now needs to be removed too due to the same infection utterly messing up the root. The most disturbing thing to me is that after 6 weeks worth of antibiotics the infection is still there, so really the sooner the affected teeth come out the better.
Also down to my final 3 weeks at Asda for the summer so its time to start looking for proper work. Where has the time gone. Preparing for this was meant to have started right after Botcon.

Thanks Nick. The hair is starting to grow back fortunatley. I had to keep my cap on during the exam too.
Been painting the office (which later be a bedroom for Ken/George Jnr whenever he or she crops up). Bumblebee warm-yellow works really well as a wall colour. Really pleased with it so far and only managed to get a couple of drops on the carpet. Carpets store next I think.

Dr Wholiday Club week next week. I've just met... The Dalek! It's amazing! I've got a little troop of 12 kids to work with and I'm doing a make your own Tardis workshop.
We're going to use the Dalek synthesisor tomorrow and then unveiling the Dalek on Tuesday.
Oh... and tomorrow I'm lined up for the gunge tank too.
Being a Youth Pastor is so much fun.

Well the week after AA has shaped up pretty well for me!
On Wednesday, after 8 months and well in excess of 200 applications, I was offered a job! I'll be starting on Sept 7th at the Independent Review Service in central Birmingham. It's a bit of a pay cut, and it's initially only a 6-month contract, but frankly I'm just glad to be getting back out there. I've also had two invites for other interviews, and a callback for a second interview from another place I went to this week, so I may have - shock, horror - employment options. We shall see how things develop.
I also had a pretty successful audition for a corporate events band - not very hip I know, but after 17 years of drumming I figure I might as well try to make some money doing it - other people do and frankly I want a slice of that pie. 'Brown Sugar'. despite my misgivings, is actually quite fun to play.
Found myself at a wedding yesterday, which was very nice. Thought I'd make it through the year nuptual-free, but this one popped up via the other half and actually turned out to be a lot of fun - I wound up in charge of the camcordering in a 13th century church. So much nice stuff to film, so little battery life!
Maybe 2009 won't completely suck after all...

There's still four full months of 2009 yet... maybe the year will pull something out of its backside for us all!

If that happens I will provide you with 40 virgins.
Though to be fair, I only know 38, but two more can't be hard to find.
