Contrary to popular (ie your) belief, I did buy him a couple of drinks on the weekend. It would have been more, too, if not for that silly no-cash-after-11pm rule.
Well, I won't be buying him any drinks for a couple of weeks - he and Mam went to Majorca this morning.

I'd imagine that probably for the Sunday and certainly for the Saturday, the hall's bar was open as a private hire, so could stay open late. The 11pm rule in the main bar was so that only guests could be served, which is probably a condition of the hotel's license. (If I was cynical, I'd mention the fact that charging to the room means that people don't realise how much money they're giving to the hotel until afterwards.)

Paying for the drink on Sunday was the least I could do for all you guys who helped out at Toy-fu across the weekend. My card tab for the weekend was only 7.75 though, because we only bought one round on the Friday after 11 before the heavy drinkers arrived -Nick |
