Didn't someone on the Other Side help you? My housemate was on the other side. I had to remind him he owns a toolbox, but it seems half of them were taken by one of the housemates who left recently, including the two very large mallets we used to have (which would have been useful!) He got the doorknob off on his end but the mechanism itself was knackered, the cylinder was turning on its own and had become detatched from the bolt somehow, the entire thing was just a steel block with no way to open it up.

My desk is covered in 10 crates of paper cups at work. The office manager decided to order them when the girl who usually does it was away. Apparently she didn't understand the electronic ordering system, so instead of ordering 1 box for the coffee machine she ordered 10. I am the only one in today, so I get to sort it out I am going to make a fort.

I've got money saved now which will be untouched so can cast my net a bit wider re: employment as I would be able to move straight away this time. Applied for some cool jobs down Edinburger way.
I have, however, managed to secure an interview on the 7th of September. Not sure about the job but I'm not going to turn any interviews down!

Hot damn! Good luck with it, Ralph!
I am currently on essay question 4 of 10 in my app for Veolia Water. They sound like a promising bunch but the questions are hell. Still, the deadline is tomorrow when I'm working so I've got to get it finished today. Wish me luck, folks!
Blueshift- I hope you remember to take a picture of your fort once you finish it! Remember to leave plenty of room for retractable gun emplacements!

Six hours later, I've only moved from the computer to acquiesce to the limits of biology. Eight down, two to go. The hardest two, naturally. "Give us an example when you had to think on your feet and make a decision quickly" and "What interests you about this programme?"
What interests me about it is it's not working retail under a crazy person.

Nick, channelling is instigated for you.
Finally the spacedeathcold that has floored me all week seems to be lifting. My body temperature has sunk down below 37.5 celsius and I haven't coughed significantly since this morning (and haven't needed a constant infusion of Benylin to manage this feat). All being well I should actually be well enough to get back to work tomorrow. I guess I'd better brace myself for the finding out of what chaos has accumulated on my desk in my absence....

That's always the problem of having a few days off work through illness. Coming back in and finding that somebody has cocked the job up for you!

Channelling now - hope goes ok - which part of Veolia is it? the pure environmental side or one of their water supply groups. Know they are seeking to sell off 49 per cent of the water companies but this will not impact on jobs or operation due to the way the comapnies are regulated...plus Veolia retains controlling interest
Good luck
(PS..its not that I am so sad to keep an eye on such things, its my job as utility market analsyst)

Good luck with the job apps Nick and Ralph.
Hmm... I am sure it is only a coincidence however I am moving flats in two months time and thus either untraceable to Ralph if he moves here... or a potential flat mate!

We will see what happens. I'm not fussed if I get a job in Glasgow or Edinburgh. I need to move house anyway, so it's no difference to me.

I received a lovely Thank You card today from a 4 year old kid at Doctor Wholiday's who I worked with yesterday. (See recent blogs).
The card featured some artwork he drew of Optimus Prime on the front, a Minicon in the middle and Megatron on the back. Bless him.

I shall keep my fingers crossed for you. I am just back from spending money myself - on a DVD and a CD rack to supplement the ones I already have assembled.
I suspect this afternoon will consist of breaking out the screwdriver, followed by a fair few anguished howls....

Rather surprisingly, the tat fair had guest talks! So I parked myself by the stage most of the day and watched them. Actors from Star Trek, Doctor Who, Torchwood, etc. Barely had time to look at the tat as I was perfectly happy listening to the guests, so the fiver I had left from my £10 budget (it was £5 to get in) went on dinner afterwards as I treated myself to a baked potato meal deal thingy in the food court. Wasn't that bothered about tat, the guests were good value and I had a fun day. Hurray!
Then I got on the wrong bus and ended up in strange places.

Are you sure the baked potato didn't have alcohol in it? I've known one or two people who have got on the wrong bus through being stoned.

I can confirm it was a regular baked potato. I just got on the wrong bus through virtue of failing to read the number correctly as I was distracted by a passing lady in a nice outfit.
Never actually been stoned. I've always found stoned people to be the most boring people in the world to talk to. I get more fun out of talking to rocks, which are slightly more witty and generally brighter. If I want to turn into a moron, there are other far more fun methods.
