What was the first-ever instance, in the Transformers toy range, where a toy of one allegiance was recoloured and re-released as a character of the other faction?
For example, this year, the toy of Breakaway originally started as an Autobot but was later recoloured as Thrust, a Decepticon.

If not minispies would it be Metroplex? Or sixshot?

Greatshot and Crossblades would be my second guess (both Victory) though they were both remolds too

Aside from Minispies, wouldn't it be a few Micromasters? eg Mudslinger to Greasepit, the Air Strike Patrol members to Hothouse and Groundshaker.

I thought Stepper was an Autobot.
Was Sixknight an Autobot or a Decepticon in the toy range?
Crossblades is the earliest one I'd be confident of. Then various Micromasters and Metroplex. Then there were the Rescue Force and some Gobots later on.

I thought Stepper was an Autobot. He was indeed. Released as a Cybertron as far as I am aware. Karl

Do Fracas and Nightstick count? They were released as the targetmaster guns for Stepper and Artfire, though not recoloured. And only kinda renamed.

Ooh, I like that answer, except that Graham did specify recoloured in his question.

Heh! Fracas and Nightstick would have been brilliant answers. Shame that Generations doesn't show the robot modes of Stepper's and Artfire's Targetmasters.

Doubledealer/Doubleclouder? Kinda. One was boxed as a Decepticon and the other a Cybertron. Or Jipe, but I don't think it really counts as no-one's ever heard of it.

Or Jipe, but I don't think it really counts as no-one's ever heard of it. Whoa! Evil Brawn! I think we have a winner. If so, we must trust Graham to answer truthfully about whether or not this was the one he had in mind, or if this was the first time he heard of the guy... Martin

Now, Martin, we all know that the answers to these quizzes are not the actual answers, but the answers that Graham was thinking of. The answer is obviously an Actionmaster.

I can't really remember now. I guess that's why it's a memory game.
Still, evil Brawn is pretty cool. He can be the winning answer. Well done, Jaymz. Clever use of the Internet, there.
